I don't mean to complain. But sometimes one can suddently write a word that one didn't mean to put there, by pure accident. I am just wondering if you think it would be a good idea to have an edit button for posts. So that some can edit up grammar mistakes or stuff like that.
Wondering what your opinions on it are.

I typically wouldn't have a problem with an edit button, but then Newgrounds.

The problem with having an edit button is that someone could use it for all sorts of shenanigans like posting something stupid like, "Tom Fulp sucks cock and has a stupid slut wife!!!!!" and then changing it to something harmless once a mod and/or admin and is alerted to it and then it becomes a quest to see what was posted at what time. It's way easier to just have the edit function not be there for regular users. If you really need to edit something, you could always PM a BBS mod or admin and ask them to delete your post so that you can put what you really wanted up.

This has been explained repeatedly.
If you search for the word "edit" there are already numerous threads about this topic.
From the first page of searching, here they are:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.
An edit button would absolve users of the responsibility of proof-reading their posts. People would make mistakes and wait until they were pointed out to them before going back and fixing them.
More importantly, certain kinds of users who like arguing without being able to support their arguments would go back and "alter" what they had said when their idiocy is pointed out.
When you post, you should be able to back up what you are saying with sources and evidence. The absence of an edit button forces people to do their research, unless they don't mind looking stupid.

It weeds out those who put some thought into what they type out from those who don't.
Naturally everyone will have an error here or there (I have a few typos from time to time myself), but if the average is blurhgsleihgaeijeji well, that's just pretty bad.

Yeah, when I read posts on the NGBBS I say to myself "my god, these posts are immaculate!" And the discourse! Phew! Everyone around here is doing research and backing up what they say with evidence. All thanks to not having an edit button.

I think there should be an add button. Basically, if we make a post, we can go and add an addendum to our last post in order to specify something in an earlier post if a thread gets derailed or there are other issues. Each addition could also be timestamped. The forum could also have a sorting option that counted additions as a separate post, or ones where the order of posts took into account those classified as additions.

We don't have an edit button because we don't have the programming manpower to overhaul the BBS in any serious way. Bren is only one man doing all he can and we couldn't even get a replacement chat up within a reasonable time frame. It was great seeing an increase to the size of the attachments we can post, posting embedded links to Youtube and other NG content was another excellent improvement, but we still lack the ability to add two separate pictures to the same post!
It's puzzling that the other users and mods will defend not having an edit button, I really doubt anyone would be too torn up if a functional edit feature sprung up overnight. It just seems like sour grapes to me.
vBulletin and phpBB forum software supports editing posts, Youtube, Youtube comments even supports editing comments for a window of time.
I can accept not being able to edit posts here, but there is no way anyone should defend not having a feature that the newer NG blogs puts to great use.
Why don't you just go post on those sites then Rad?

If people can edit their posts after they've been read by one, two, or even three people… hunthoumillBILLIONS of NGers will start abusing the edit feature to post gross things and then replace them to make the first five or six posters look irrelevant!

I'd say it forces them rather than encourages them.
If you look at the posts by shitheads like Insanctuary, an edit button would allow them to go back and remove/alter all the gaping holes and contradictions in their posts when they are pointed out to them

It's that time again where I just sit here stunned at some of the arguments against the edit button and think "do people genuinely believe the utter tripe they're typing?". I then take note that I am on the newgrounds.com BBS and realise that indeed, yes, that is the case.
Oh no, someone said something dumb then changed it. Oh, what a travesty. It's not even a remotely convincing argument. Even if that was the case the edit button would be subject to this heinous abuse (and I say this sincerely and not in the way a petulant teen would say it); who cares?
To the chap who said it takes programming power to implement this, hence why we don't have it: it would take no time at all to implement the functionality. If the BBS was so poorly designed [1] that adding edit functionality would break it, then something has gone desperately wrong in the design process.

So work around it; include a notification that the post has been edited, only allow editing for up to 5 minutes after the original post was made.
I agree with @TheSwisherConvent (have you seen those swish new low-security Norwegian convents?) that using the notion that stupid posts could be rectified as an argument against an edit button is absurd and merely illustrates this community's malignant self-loathing tumour on the hideously wrinkled face of its discontent.
