Why can't we let people just kill themselves? The world is overpopulated enough as it is. I honestly don't see what the big deal is. Everyone should have the power over their own lives, and if they wish to end them, so be it.

I agree. I think people should be allowed to kill themselves.
But I also know that it is in society's best interests to try and keep its citizens alive.
So, what we try to do is convince people to find a reason to live, and help them see things more positively, and to find things that they like in ordinary situations.

Overpopulation is an entirely different subject that I won't get into, but saying that everyone should have the power over their own lives is not always true, especially when they are mentally unstable. Ask any doctor about medical consent. People are almost never in a healthy state of mind when they think that they should end their lives, and the ones who are are usually already terminally ill anyways.
If you are feeling depressed, you should talk to your family and close friends about it. If you feel like you don't have anyone to talk to, you can PM me. I'm no professional in any sense, but it's better than just bottling it up and going about your day without any sort of outlet.
If you are feeling suicidal, you absolutely NEED to call this number.

Terminally ill, maybe. Mentally unstable, no. There are many people that have been treated for their depression and suicidal thoughts and have went on to lead happy lives. I suffer from depression and this kind of made me feel good. Not the whole thread it self, but that someone is at least trying to help.
I am not suicidal. I mean I have those feelings and thoughts but I am too suborn and always looking for a solution, plus I gravely fear what is on the other side.

We need a euthanasia system put in place to provide suicidal people with instant death with a 100% success rate.
