90s because I was born in that time period. Despite the fact that I couldn't have developed any long-term memories until 1999 to the early 2000s, I like to think the 90s was the perfect decade merely for the fact that a lot of my favorite video games, movies, and TV shows were released back then. I am ignorant of any political/economic conflicts that may have gone on during the 90s, but I have no reason to do any research on the aforementioned topic, so I will remain ignorant until a time machine or what-have-you gets created and allows me to revisit that age as I am now.
They all fucking suck.
Call me when it's 2050 where there's hover boards, and android women who will let me slap the shit out of them at will.... for research purposes of course.
Oldskies lmao
the 1990s, because i was in them...
nah for reals, the 1990s was an awesome time to be a child- the two console generations during that decade are widely regarded as two of the best.
also i imagine it was a breath of fresh air for the adults of the time as well- you know with the whole end of the cold war not worrying about a nuke being dropped on you and all that shit.
it was probably the most peaceful decade of the last century.
I think it's all subjective, but out of those time periods I would have to say the 90s for the amount of technology available. Apart from the ones listed, I think living in the Roaring 20s would have been quite interesting.
I'm gonna say 90s because most of my favorite albums and movies were released in that decade.
The 1990s as I grew up in that time period, remembering the dark times and the good, with some bad scattered all over. Besides, the 1970s has this:
"As the old saying goes...what was it again?"
Most people on Newgrounds were born around the late 80's to early 2000 so most people are gonna choose 90's.
80's because it had great music and created the video game crash of '83
It depends on what you're talking about. 70s or 80s for music. 90s for video games. 80s for movies. For the best time to be alive, it would be the 00s. I wasn't born until 1998, so I can't say what life was like in the 90s
1980s
- Best video games
- Video game arcades, and tons of them
- Movie rental places abundant
- Tons of great movies
- Less red tape just in general
- Less babying, more toughness
- Actually had to somewhat know what you were doing to use a computer
- Neighborhoods were safer
- Fewer bums
- More freedoms
- Better-made everything
- MTV was actually good
In the 1980s we had actual metal and wood playgrounds instead of this plastic shit. Our toys were metal instead of this plastic shit. Less safety BS and more the assumption don't be a dumbass and if you are a dumbass it's your own fault and enjoy your suffering. Schools were tougher on kids -- none of this passing on every student or giving out A's like they're candy at Halloween.
I will also accept the 1970s as a valid answer. The 1920s is also acceptable.
People who are flat-out wrong:
Anyone who said the 1990s
Anyone who said the 2000s (this includes the 2010s)
Anyone who said the 1960s or 1950s
Boo hoo hoo said the 90s kids.
This is why I avoid questions like this, nostalgia tends to blind folks into thinking that a certain decade was better than we are currently in. Each decade has it's up and downs, and to dismiss that is simply missing the forest from the trees. All of this nostalgia circle-jerking in this thread is honestly makes me sick that entertainment and progress stopped once the year 2000 came about. Take off your rose-tinted nostalgia filters and live in today's times, it's not that hard folks.
I love 1998 as much as the next guy, but it wasn't all cupcakes and roses then.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.
Next 16 year old to say they're a 90s kid is gonna get fucking stabbed.
All of them but the eighties.
The eighties was a mistake.
60's to 80's because of the pop culture, the music and movies that came out during this period were pretty fuckin' good.
Other than that, I've no other reason to like the past.
90's particularly of where I grew up. California in the 90's.... aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
fuk
80's. Solid cartoons on all 3 networks from 8 til' noon, good music, and political correctness wasn't rampant. Overall a better time period. 2nd place would be the 90's.
That's right I like guns and ponies. NO NEW GUN CONTROL.
Politically correct is anything that leftists believe.Politically incorrect is anything common sense.
The 80's. It had better movies, music, and TV shows.
Each had their ups and downs. I'm glad the 60s happened because of how much society changed but I wouldn't want to live in it. It sounds like people were pretty decent in the 70s, however I'm partial to more recent technology to be honest. The 80s and 90s both had some great music, and the 90s in particular having top-notch pinball and video games. Given a choice between all of them I'd say the 90s would probably be the most fun decade to be stuck in, but I wouldn't say it's 'better.'
If I offer to help you in a post, PM me to get it. I often forget to revisit threads.

They will indeed. But, unfortunately there's only a couple of us here.
