Its patents and quarantined patents released
The attack comes just one day after a report of a crowd of several hundred local residents, chanting, 'No Ebola in West Point,' drove away a burial team
Locals feel that the doctors are the ones that are actually spreading the disease
Some of the looted items were visibly stained with blood, vomit and excrement, said Richard Kieh, who lives in the area
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/report-armed-men-attack-liberia-ebola-clinic-freeing-patients/
~sigh~ there is no cure for stupid... West point will be the new hub of disease in a few days i guess

That whole continent can just sink into the ocean and we'll all be better off.

headline: "Armed men attack Liberia Ebola clinic, freeing patients"
"Armed Men attack clinic, free patients"
what? they "freed patients?" so the patients were held there against their will? I don't get it.

Most likely, I wouldn't want to spend my final days in a small tent with people in hazmat suits poking me with needles etc

A 97% fatality rate and no cure with the exception of the CDC's shady experimental drugs
To what avail

I don't know about you, but I'd kind of like to be the 3%, no?
And seriously, what else are you going to do. I hear that it's very painful. They "freed" them for what, to sit in the fetal position on the ground and contaminate other people?
I'm not arguing that there's not much you can do, just that they most likely didn't want to be there but where forced there anyways. Not that that's a bad thing, I actually have a much more radical idea to get rid of ebola forever.

If we're lucky they'll all kill each other thus eliminating the disease.

They should have attached some sort of last minute explosive all around the quarantines. If all else had failed they would need to kill everything. Those patients dying is a small loss compared to what would happen if the virus escapes. Which it did...

I'M SORRY THAT I'M WILLING TO GET RID OF A FEW THOUSAND PEOPLE TO DESTROY A DISEASE THAT KILLS 970,000 OUT OF A MILLION
There's nothing insane about sacrificing a few to potentially save all of humanity. Do you even realize that if it mutates, which viruses can do overnight, it could become airborne and spread to the entire planet in a few days, by the time we realize it's become airborne it would already be too late. I'd be more than willing to remove a very small amount of people to make sure that ebola never gets a chance to mutate.

A disease going airbourne, for which there has to be a selection pressure and for which there is none, does not entail the disastrous scenario that you imagine. Take for example bacterial tuberculosis, that airbourne disease that's been around for centuries and which kills 50% of all it infects, yet somehow hasn't decimated the world's population.
The very fact that ebola is a rapidly progressing disease with an extremely high mortality rate means that it really isn't a candidate for a pandemic.

to be honest, the hospital probably was spreading ebola, but not on purpose- ebola is spread through the sharing of bodily fluids, and well... medical infrastructure over there isn't too great- equipment doesn't always get sterilized as thoroughly as it should, unfortunately. so in a way, they are right... they're just wrong in that the hospital isn't doing it on purpose

It's kind of a shame Africa is so shitty.
It has tons of natural resources, beautiful wildlife, and beautiful, vast landscape. But the people fucking ruin it.

If Africa had become one big country a long time ago, they'd be by far the most powerful nation today, far surpassing every first world country we have today. They have more than enough natural resources and food diversity to not only be self-sustaining, but take advantage of what they have and also become the richest nation on the planet.
It's too bad only a few countries in Africa are worth a damn. 90% of them are gigantic 3rd world shitholes.

Oh, so true. It could be so much better than it is. It's really sad the way they treat each other. Way too many people live in fear or are persuaded through fear.

Well they took away their gloves and chlorine. Gloves are very useful when dealing with bodily fluids and trying to avoid transmission of diseases. And the chlorine sounds like it was used to sterilize dead bodies. So these people took away the ability for the workers to protect themselves and others and then released the patients back into the community to go and infect everyone else. Seems like one of the dumbest things possible for them to do.

Is it bad that I wouldn't mind so much if something like that happened? I mean, sure, it sucks for everyone who dies, on a personal level, and I'm sorry for the individual losses, but we're kind of overdue for some kind of plague anyway aren't we? Plus human population growth needs some kind of curbing factor or we'll run out of resources far too quickly at some point and then everyone's screwed. And it'd be somewhat humbling to know that nature can still kick our collective asses. You fuck with nature? Now nature fucks with you!
So much artificial living and it could finally be a chance for survival of the fittest/natural selection to reassert itself. And if I died from it? Well then I wasn't fit and that's that. But maybe the surviving humans can become stronger.

Are you saying we need to weed off Africa? The place that's least hurting our natural resources.
