When I go to Computer Propweties, it says Intel (R) Pentium(R) CPU G40 @ 2.80GHZ 2.80 GHz
Is it good or bad?

That's like the dial up porn of computer processors.

.
Your processor is starting to get a little old but it should be ok for 1-2 years as far as the games go .
Next time you buy computer get DUAL CORE and Aim for higher GHz as your budget allows .

Unlike everyone else who is suggesting the 4790K, could you tell us what you would ideally be running? We can try and work from what you say to get you a CPU which would be the best value for price/performance in your tasks.
To be honest, im not big with computers, the specs I gave you I just copied and pasted. All I want to do is play video games with no problems. As if I were playing on my PS3.

Then processor is not your main issue, look at video card specs.
Also you have to make sure your motherboard that will support the processor and that you have sufficient extra power to run it.

Its excellent value, but low performance.

The joke works both ways I guess.
