It's about a kid and his mother who both survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. It's a drama.
It's not a series, it's an animated japanese film from the 80's.

I'm currently watching Another.

I highly recommend it to you if you prefer horror/suspense. I'm not really going to describe what the whole show is about, but I will tell you that it's like an anime version of Final Destination. The only difference is that the deaths make up the plot.

Also, it's a very short series. Only 12 episodes.

One of the most overrated anime of the year.

I'm currently still watching the series. Haven't finished it yet, but I'm half way through the series. It has a bad ass opening and that's my favorite thing about AOT.

How about the anime in which the protagonist is unique in special ways as he learns to control his energy. Eventually entering into a tournament of some kind and fighting a group of people that have powers exactly like his that just happen to show up. XD

Anime doesn't make me cry easy but this one struck a chord with me. It's beautifully done, I think.
