The Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization have both released new HIV/AIDS guidelines which advise all gay and bisexual men to begin taking a daily medication to reduce the likelihood that the disease will be transmitted during exposure to an infected partner.

The risk of exposure for homosexual and bisexual males is on an order of magnitude greater than for straight females, which is an order of magnitude greater than it is for straight males and homosexual females.

Just so that no one misunderstands, the WHO and other health organizations are advising homosexual men to take the drug Truvada in addition to using condoms during sex, and not instead of using them.

The drug has shown to be very effective at preventing HIV transmission during clinical trials. This should lead to a reduction in the number of new HIV infections every year.

You don't see any other possible, perhaps more noble, motivations these organizations might have for encouraging at-risk groups to lower their risk? If it was truly just an evil ploy to make money, why wouldn't they encourage everyone to use these drugs?
