It has been tracking this stuff for some time, but the new feed is now showing you what it's been tracking. Once you click it it should clear out and then start only showing you new interactions since you last checked. I think they are still tweaking some things.

Hopefully once it's all up and running Tom will make a post explaining it all. I think it notifies you when your friends do things, or if someone posts in a topic you created. I think there will be a way to disable certain notifications if you don't want them.

Just click the gear attached to a specific notification and you should be able to disable it if you do not want it.

The feed updates are being pushed live right now so there are some bugs getting fixed on the fly.

Wade answered a lot of these already but in summary:

1) The star now only appears when you have new items to check out.

2) The friends button in the header only appears when you have pending requests.

3) When browsing your feed, click the GEAR icon on an item for an explanation of why it is there and the ability to exclude it from your feed. The page to manage these details is another week away so you won't be able to undo things you remove at the moment.

4) The number on the front page is massive because the feed has been running for a good while in the background and you need to click it to reset the count.

Things will seem a little crazy at first, we'll be watching to see what needs to be adjusted. My feed moves fast because I friend and follow lots of people... For general users I imagine it won't be as overwhelming but it might make you reconsider who you friend.

This is the game JohnnyUtah and I have been working on.

....though is there a way to make it so you can see those notifications again? Just in case you suddenly feel like seeing them.
