who the crap do monocles stay in

its been bugging the crap out of me since monocle's only cover one eye it dousent make sense that you can just put it on your face and they just stay there especialy when you relaize there is nothing on them to hold them in place.

and yes i have tried holding a lens in place with my face muscles it dousent work for long periods of time and if you ever see someone with a monocle there keeping them in place for like hours and not doing the face muscle thing i described which involves scrunching up that part of your face

You have to actually stretch your skin under the eye a little, and raise your eyebrow very high. When you put the monocle in and relax your face muscles, it's reasonably tight.

You buy a monocle which is designed for your size, widen your eye and lift your eyebrow, then place it and relax your muscles. They stay in place when the base of the lens is held by your cheek flesh, the wire support is on your eye socket, and your eyebrow holds the top in place.

They fall out if you raise your eyebrow. Or if they're the wrong size.
