Also, raising your hand to someone who lets you merge is appreciated.

This is a great thing to do. I hate it when I am trying to turn and see a car coming only to turn on their blinker at the last second.

Not driving the wrong way.
Not driving over curbs but instead using proper entrances/exits.
Not tailgating.
Not parking your car in the middle of the road to have a conversation with other person who has done the same on their side.
Not getting all road ragey.
Not clipping cars.
Not knocking off bumpers.
Basically lots of nots. Don't drive like a douchebag and you're all set.

Properly using blinkers
Not cutting off cards while getting into another lane
NOT FUCKING TEXTING AND DRIVING
Not tailgating
Yielding to others
Not having on your bright lights when behind a car

Pay attention to the traffic light at all times. If you sit at a green light long enough for someone to honk at you, you deserve your license permanently revoked.

The tailpipes on my bike are loud. If I'm in the right lane, and I'm coming up on somebody on the sidewalk (or especially women / kids / mothers with their kids) I'll hold in the clutch so I don't give them a deafening doppler effect of my loudass engine, then I'll resume accelerating once I'm well past them.
The headlight mounted on my bike is angled pretty high. When I'm up on somebody, right behind them at a stop, I can see my headlight shine right onto their eyes. As a courtesy, I turn the entire handlebar to the left, so I can not only save them from an irritating lightsource at a stop, but I can prop up with a cool pose at the same time.
I don't tailgate. I hate it when people tailgate me, so I give people a decent amount of space between me and them.
If I can, I try to lead by example in efforts of politeness that takes a group effort, like creating a divide in stopped traffic so people can cross the median..and if I can see what they can't see, I'll motion the crossers to let them know that they're good to go.
If I can, even though its silly to do on a bike, I try to stop people from cutting everybody in line on the highway by riding the emergency shoulder. I'll let the person behind me know, "Hey, this is my spot in the flow" and I'll park my ass out and to the right. I've stopped trucks...they don't fuck with me.
Most importantly, I do what I can not to wreck by being observant. I don't make a single decision on the road that I haven't visually observed and confirmed is clear to do. There are no assumptions. The biggest responsibility I can make on the road is to worry about myself first and foremost, being skilled in safety and maneuvers, and not being the problem that's slowing everyone else down.
I've been courteous lately by not driving drunk, either. So far so good, and I haven't regret that decision...if the pattern persists, I don't think I will.

I've almost done that twice because people were texting and driving and not paying attention to the road.

Every lane change is a shoulder check...even though I have mirrors, I also have no blind spots, so I physically LOOK behind me before I move on over...conversely, when I overtake people, I try to look at that car's body language to see if they're about to come over onto me or not....always have an escape route.

I agree. I rarely look at my phone when driving unless it's a call from my work place.

if you are parallel with another driver for more than ten seconds you have to look at them with your mouth agape while banging your wrist on the horn

if someone is driving slow in the left lane you must tailgate them for a few seconds before swerving wildly around to the right while giving the middle finger and holding down the horn
