I've seen very few movies in my life, and I've grown annoyed at how obsessed our culture is with them. Anyone else feel this way?

Well, recent ones yeah, because they're garbage. But there have been some movies I've watched that have been wonderful experiences.

Replace "movies" with "TV" and I'd be inclined to agree.
I have a low opinion of the typical TV-watcher. Now, it's not that there aren't any good shows. Just that the majority of shows require such a low intelligence to enjoy them.
So someone who enjoys your typical "serious" crime shows, hospital shows, dramas and so forth? Yeah I'd rank their intelligence at somewhere around potato.

That's quite a shame ... the same probably can't said for people who watch something like Animal planet, the history channel and discovery.Though they've got there uneducational shows to.

Yeah educational shows or comedy shows are at least passable. Someone who regularly watches "serious" shows though? I hope they're never the deciding factor on a jury. Probably end up with some innocent in prison due to "well that's how it worked on TV so clearly he's guilty!"

I don't mean to further derail the thread, but I agree on getting repulsed by TV lately...with few exceptions, its all junk, and what really chaps my hide are the "reality style shows intercut with interviews" that explicitly following rednecks and idiots doing mundane shit, under the representation of a channel thats supposed to be educational. ESPECIALLY the NUMEROUS fucking cryptozoology bullshit. Its unbelievable. Its like...have we run out of things to try and educate people about? We're gonna go with a bunch of good-ol boys shouting at each in the woods through a nightvision filter while they fail to capture a Bigfoot or fuckin' Trolls or Beastman or Snarf or some shit? Fuck everything. ...I'd take the History Channel back when it played nothing but shit about the Nazi's and WW2 over this joke of a network programming.

Yes, "scripted reality" is just plain garbage. Hard to believe that there are actually people who think this shit is real. Don't they realize that what they see had to be put on tape somehow? And this usually happens with a fucking camera man present?

You mean you don't have a camera man following you around all the time even when you pee? Then what's this weirdo doing here? He swore everyone had a camera man following them around and it was completely normal just like on "reality TV". I knew something was fishy! Bad cameraman! Bad! Get out of my house!

WAIT! I hear they pay you money and residual checks for being on TV! Stop him and pick up your check!

I only like a few movies, most movies I can not pay attention for long enough, and just end up being bored. Do you have any idea how many people hate me because I didn't like frozen???

Fuck 'em. I've never even seen Frozen, yet I know everything I need to know about it just by perusing Tumblr.
Whoever "hates you" for not seeing Frozen is an idiot that needs to piss off. Throw back worthwhile movies back in their faces to shut them up.

well there you go
If you watch good movies, they stay stuck in your head for some time. Film is as valid a medium for artistic expression and conveyance of stories as anything else is.

Most of those channels have been taken over by awful shows as well.
The History Channel is basically the hub for Ancient Aliens now. Its only redeeming show is Pawn Stars because, staged or not, it's interesting to learn about different objects and the history behind them.

oh but i love movies! sitting at home and popping in a dvd or vhs, or making the trip out to the cinema with friends to catch the latest film, it makes for a pleasant night.
