Tell Me About Your Best Teacher

My eighth grade history teacher was really a cool guy.

I remember we were having a map test on middle eastern countries. So I wrote the answers on my desk before class started.

He came in the classroom and said "Jeff, did you write any answers on your desk?"
So I lifted my arm off my desk, and he had me wipe the answers off. Being the awesome guy that he is, I didn't get a detention.
Every time we had a test after that, he would look at me and say to the class "I hope none of you try to write the answers on your desks..."

There was also a time when a kid's phone went off, and it played the meow mix theme. So my teacher went through the phone and played all of his cringe worthy ringtones for the class to hear. It was amazing.

There are more awesome things that he did, but those are the two greatest things I can remember about him.

Well I guess I could say my music teacher because she gave me the opportunity to practice my skills on music software. I would also say my one to one music teacher who gives me lessons in music software and ha taught me many useful skills.

Had a couple of cool teachers in high school. I talked one of them into letting us watch Austin Powers instead of having class one day. So we watched Austin Powers that day. Do I win the cool points?

I had a really cool AP US history teacher. He was smart as shit and a very good public speaker who made me enjoy history even more than I normally would have.

I also had a cool english/AP language and composition teacher who was a thespian and was someone who actually cared about teaching and challenged her students and was a generally great person with a sophisticated sense of humor.

Then there was these two teachers in the building who were married, but both were chill as fuck. The guy was known for letting students do whatever they want while he put a movie on and played with his phone. He would snapchat with his favorite students and people even used to smoke spice in the back of his class and he just let it slide as long as it was discreet. His wife was also pretty cool. She let me wear my hat in class even though there was a rule that banned hats in the building. No doubt they both smoked mad weed.

My 8th grade science teacher was probably the coolest dude and all around awesome person. Everyone in my grade hoped they would get him, because 90% of his students pass with flying colors and lets you do whatever you want after his lecture. He even gave us point just by sitting in class and listening to him. He also gave us points from coloring pictures from is "college coloring book". He was the easiest teacher in every way possible, that includes learning from him. Sadly he is retired now, I got him on his last year of teaching. I hope that anyone finds someone like him, especially in science.

favorite middle school teacher was a dude named Mr. Z, taught social studies and was a tall lanky fuck with anger problems. scruffy blonde beard with glasses, dude was mad eccentric. he had this weird neurotic inflection that sounded like he was sucking in air and yelling at the same time, his voice was really nasally.

he kept a collection of music right at the entrance of his class, and he seemed like he was a huge pop culture nut (i swear he had a blown up cutout of Bart Simpsons, had us watch the Simpsons when we were learning about the Naturalization Test).

and if you acted up like shit, he'd chew you the fuck out. i remember this one time a dude was sleeping on his desk, and he fucking kicked that shit out from under him and blew the fuck up at him. only dumbasses showed him disrespect.

he was a very passionate and awesome fucking person.

It was important that you learned about measurement and the differences between the English system and the metric system. It was a more "hands-on" style of teaching.

Coach Beam, my world history teacher during my freshman year of High School. If someone's phone went off he would grab it from them and read the text out loud. Sometimes he'd even respond. Hilarity ensued.

the 'head' graphics teacher (who was known for being a cunt anyway) tried his best to break my spirit by excluding me from team-based work and making me do my work outside the classroom as well as generally arguing with me over anything I did or said
my other graphics teacher said it plainly to me: "I don't like what you did, but so long as you keep it out of my lessons we won't have a problem" and he stood up for me one time when the other one was trying to not allow me to use one of the room's computers

I had some cool 12th grade teachers. The student teacher from my Science class sounded like H. Jon Benjamin and constantly made Bob's Burger references. My English teacher had a similar surreal sense of humor as me. My Math teacher even played video games.

Unfortunately they were all incompetent teachers and I definitely got dumber in my senior year.

She was an English teacher. I was a teacher's pet. She'd even give me books to read then I got A pluses on all my homework because instead of doing an actual book report I just got up, discussed the book we both read with the teacher, and got my A. So easy.
Her daugher's best friend was dating Josh Hartnett for some time.

Also this lady was bipolar crazay. but i love her anyway.

I've had a lot of amazing teachers that have changed the way I think and feel about the world and my own life, but the best I've ever had is a teacher names Mrs. Harris.

She's so smart and passionate about history that it blows my mind. This is one of the first times I've met someone else that's on my level when it comes to this kind of shit. She's a complete hard-ass when it comes to class time, man. She will kick you out in a second for fucking around, but she can still maintain a fun atmosphere that everyone can progress in.

I don't really feel all that appreciated in her class for all the work and effort I actually put into school. I try doing nice things for her like putting stuff away or getting things for her because she needs all the help she can get.

I'll remember her forever.

^ Same thing happened to me, except it was a history substitute teacher who gave us the practice final for history the day before.

I've had so many great teachers, particularly in High School, but I think my best teacher is my cinematography teacher. He's taught me a whole lot about a lot of things, even besides cameras and cinematography, had my back through a whole lot of shit, he's gotten me quite a bit of work, and is currently my best connection in the entertainment industry.

Eh... I'm not too sure if I agree with that. I mean, not to diss your teacher, because not a lot of religious teachers DO make it interesting, but objectively I'd imagine religion seems pretty easy to make interesting. I guess just not a lot of teachers are competent enough to do it. Thankfully you got one of the few that is.

How'd he do it? Did he acknowledge how batshit crazy religion can get without becoming disrespectful of what's come from it? That's something I like to think I'd do, if I taught religion.

Pretty much. Also since he was/is so passionate about his work and the subject he teach so his positive energy kind of rubs off on you and in turn make yourself passionate about learning. He was also a bit of a nerd and could go on great lengths making parables to movies and video games, which might have annoyed the less nerdier but I still think it didn't derailed to much of the subject at hand.

Also he is knowledge doesn't just come from a book. He's well traveled and been to a lot of religious places and have personal hands on experience with the different kind of religious people.
