3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsThere are a whole lotta Newgrounders who don't see the game/movie,just open it and give a blind vote just for the heck of experience points.
I made a movie of 1:21 min or so in which the first 10 seconds just show "made by me",just after submitting I reloaded the page and found that it already had a score of 3.5 and 6 votes on it......those people didn't even see the movie!
Why is there BLIND VOTING? :C
I thought this was going to be about politics. As to why people may vote blindly in political matters, partisan loyalty combined with herd mentality.
As to people voting blindly on Flash submissions? Probably laziness and/or trying to rank up "points" without actually evaluating the things they're judging. Hopefully it'll average out for you.
I would say if over the long run it stays around 4 or 4 1/2 stars, consider that like a "5 stars" and if it stays less than 2 stars, consider that like a "0 stars". Even the best of the best only seem to be able to sustain 4 stars or 4 1/2 at the absolute best. Low-quality submissions seem to live on with 1 or 2 stars.
Because Tom thought it would be a good idea to have voting linked with experience points.
Way to go Tom
Who wants to spend the time to thoroughly judge something that they don't even give a fuck about? It's the experience points they're after. It's not like they were going out of their way to critique your movie because they wanted to see it or anything.

But there is effort behind every work and by voting blindly you are calling it bad just like that :C The score surely matters for the author

Not really. Not caring about something one way or another isn't insulting, it's just indifference. Besides, the system works fine enough even with all the vote spammers. The worthy flashes are still recognized and sent to the front page, so I don't see any problems.
Well, 2 explanations exist for this.
1. Just about anything that's not a 1 frame movie with a turd on it will pass the portal these days. People vote 5 on everything without watching it for protection points and XP even when it's not clock day.
2. Zero bombing. I don't actually believe this happens but I've heard people just vote 0 on things so that they can earn rewards or make their flash look better. Not sure if this happens on newgrounds.

How long did you wait to refresh the page? If it was long enough for the whole flash to play, it was most likely voted fairly on.

Keep telling yourself that.

Hope doesn't build stable buildings. It's the realistic view and calculations that do.

Deep.
@ op
You pretty much answered your own question in your first post. EXP....
However I always watch videos through to the end before voting on them. As a former art student I understand entirely how indifferent participation can be insulting.
90% of my in-class critiques were filled with "i liek it" and "u did good job" and "buzz word buzz word I'm too wasted to make a real comment".
I just decided that I need a signature.

Ah well, I'll keep on holding to hope that people will stop blind voting on of these days. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't have to remove shovelware on the spot, people would be bright enough to blam it rather than save it.

You know as well as I do that most people these days don't care about that. Most only want the points, and if they see a trend of protecting or blamming they are going to just on the bandwagon until it dies. For now it is protecting almost everything sadly.

True. I can always hope but for now, seems at least most tests (save those that get blind voted for having medals working or not at all) get blammed.
If unsure, vote 2 or 3.
if crap but has potential, vote 1, if spam, vote 0.
