well for one thing, it'd make bad business sense fr pigs to be sad when they die, because apparently that makes the meat taste really bad. my ex raised a couple pigs for slaughter, actually- and as such she knows the correct process.
so even without the ethical reasons to correct them, there are financial reasons- if someone has some bad tasting pork from a sad piggy then they may file for a refund.
i know about that. and i'm glad that your ex could give some poor little piggies the chance to live a happy life!
but more than 99% of animals aren't raised like that. do you think that the 60 billion animals that are slaughtered each year for human consumption are rised by hand / caring farmers? you can still eat their meat though, thanks to a vast amount of drugs :)
