See, I'm a fucking artist, bro. I've got that divine restlessness bad. I'm obsessive about creating real and engaging characters, which you're not gonna get in a sonic fangame. So I might be a little biased. I mean, I realize there's more to games than story and characters, gameplay and all that, but story and really character immersion is my #1.

In this case, Protostar, your bulbasaurs adventure flash would be illegal XD

also, i'm not posting on newgrounds, its just going on my own personal website, so I'm not earning profit from it XD

Dude, you have already posted 2 sonic-related submissions on the portal. If you made that game of yours, then I'm sure you'd post it on NG. Plus, I'm affraid you don't have a website of your own. You're not the type which wouldn't brag about it on his profile page. Seriously man, We suggest you to let it go and focus on more original content. With original content you're enriching the culture, gaining fandom just for yourself and you can earn money from it.

I actually am trying to work on an original game, I just don't have anyone who could help to make it happen XD

Yeah, it might be. Except it's not mine, I just provided a voice, I'm not sure why newgrounds lists it as if I had a shit ton to do with it. Shit, I wish Nintendo would do a cease and desist, I'm pretty fucking embarrassed by it, it was back in the days when I would do any voice acting for attention. Also the name is protoAuthor, it's dumb, I know, but it was the way I branded myself back in the day and I can't change it now.

I'm sure Fulps get few PMs daily, perhaps less than they did before, but they still do. Even though, that's Wade's job. He helps maintain this site and he takes care of nickname changes. Sure someone can say "Oh gee, I'd like a name change but sure Wade gets lots of these PMs and I don't want to bother him", but that's not the solution.

PS sonicfandude - wrong forum, and seriously... photoshop. I will give you DIRECT INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO "FLIP COLOR" USING PHOTOSHOP.

1: Image -> Mode - convert to RGB, OR 'Indexed Color'
2: EXPORT the image. EXPORT as a .gif.
3: There is a color table WHEN YOU EXPORT. You can modify THIS color table to "recolor" sprites.

I hope that was not that difficult to follow.

Practice even more than you have currently practised. Sitting in MS paint for fifteen minutes doesn't count as practising, look up some actual tutorials on how pixel art is thrown together as opposed to just doing it how you think it should be done. It takes years of practice to get good at something like that. If you can't be fucked learning, make sure you have money to throw around, because the good pixel artists don't work for cheap.

Either way, you can't just shamelessly steal someone else's sprites and say "LOL IT'S NOT STEALING IF I DON'T PROFIT FROM IT", that's not how it works. Even then, making a Sonic fangame is old as fuck unless you're going to make something high quality like SATS, or SBTS. Put your talent to better use, and make something original, and none-sonic related. If you are good at what you do, you could potentially come up with something that becomes big.

Oh shit, THAT game? I completely fucking forgot that it existed, I played through it a year or so ago when it first cropped up. I still class the fucking thing under the romhack category, because it isn't an official Sega product, and the guy who made it kicks around the romhack community a fair bit to my knowledge.

Also, you never said what exactly you wanted a sprite artist for. Is it just the original game's assets you want recolored, or do you want completely new assets that emulate the SATS artstyle? I could do either one. The latter obviously would take much longer to do than the former.

I don't know why you continue to try and rationalize your project to the people in this thread. They'll just continue to use verbal acrobatics to make you look like an imbecile until you've given up. There's a reason why nobody talks about their projects here. At least post footage of your game engine so people don't think you're just an idea guy trying to profit off of others' work.

This is a good idea. I second this. But I really also suggest doing a game that's not a fangame, it's better for you in the end. It'll feel more artistically satisfying, AND you can profit from it.

Nobody but trademark law. I'm not saying it's likely that you'll get shit past maybe a C&D, but you ARE breaking trademark law. As you said, Sega and Nintendo don't usually care, they really view it as free publicity and happy fans that think they're a part of the team, so they don't tend to go after this stuff. But it IS technically breaking the letter of the law. Like, say you punch a dude. You have broken the law. Say he doesn't bring you up on charges. You have still broken the law, but there's no one claiming victimisation. Doesn't change the fact that the law has been broken.

Just because Sega respects itself and doesn't hire professional snitches that browse internet in search of fanfics to sue it doesn't mean it's illegal.

And as far as I remember Nintendo told NG to remove ALL content with Nintendo trademarks. I'm not 100% sure it was nintendo and I'm not sure if it still applies, but still.

3rd thing, I am going to make this an opensource engine so people can make sonic games without so much hassle

also, the game is paralax, so the background actually moves :D
