My experience taught me a few things.
1. The line can suck so get there early. People had to empty their pockets of everything and be checked.
2. Also even if someone allows you to go ahead of them in the line don't. My father let me go in front of him since I was the summoned one. One of the police there grabbed her stick and told me to get back behind my father.
3. Don't be late. A woman was late and they took her out of the room for a couple of minutes and when she was allowed back in she was quite pale and nervous.
4. Bring a book since it can take forever for it to start. You have to be on time but can be stuck waiting for the day to start.
5. Expect a few of the other people summoned to ask questions. Some of which have nothing to do with what is going on but the court will take the time to answer. I actually learned a couple of things because of it but I would have rather not have had to listen to Q&A for about 40 minutes.
6. Try not to fall asleep.

Make sure to wear your Mega Man helmet while you're sitting in the booth so that people know not to fuck with you.

I was just selected on a civil trial a few weeks back. Ended up taking 6 days when it was all said and done. This was one of the more boring cases: a trust dispute. We ended up finding for the plaintiff.
It's amazing how such an inherently interesting thing can be so boring in practice. Watching the legal system work is fascinating, but when you're literally sitting on a bench in silence watching the judge discuss things with counsel outside of earshot and you can't do anything except just wait? Boring.
Plus, it's cool to meet your fellow jurors. Luckily, most of them were level-headed so we were able to come to consensus quickly about our finding.
I recommend you try to be impaneled. You'll grow for the experience.

If it's a black guy, say you hate black people so you don't have to be a juror
If it's a white guy, say you're African American and you hate whitey

Vote the opposite the guy next to you votes. Stare in the eye the guys who will get mad at you for keeping them there. Sing the megaman song while others try to make sense of the case.

I've been ruled a delinquent juror because I didn't send in my questionnaire after repeated attempts for me to mail mine in. I couldn't care less about jury duty lol I don't have any advice

Yep, I got summoned once, even made a thread just like you. But the date was pretty close to finals week so I had to say "Fuck it" and give them the good ole "I'm a student" excuse. They didn't even ask for proof, all I had to do was check a box on the back of the summons and give them the name and address of my school.

You should mindlessly go against the popular verdict and keep everybody in there for a real long time.
Every tv show ever has done a 12 Angry Men episode. You might as well do it once in your life.
