I'd love for them to re-enter the console race, but while the Dreamcast was a great console, I'd prefer them to give their new console an original name; while the Playstation line is fine, I don't like the recent trend of continuing console lines under consistent titles & find it reflective of how samey things have been since the late 2000's - Wii-U in particular was one of the worst console names in history.
On another note, the largest Kickstarter project funded a little over ten million, which I imagine would be less than a tenth of what it would cost to develop a next-gen console, so I think the most realistic way Sega could re-enter the console race would be for them to prosper on their own overtime. Them acquiring Atlus was a brilliant move on their part; maybe in time they'll acquire more big-name/moderately-well-known developers & work their way up from there?

The reason why they stopped was because making consoles now, like they did before, could make them go bankrupt.
Sigh, I do wish they would make another console, though.

Sega passed the torch on to Microsoft.
The original Xbox "Duke" controller even looks like the Dreamcast controller.

Was the Duke controller really that big? It looks tiny as hell to me, plus I have big hands.

I honestly don't know why anyone would want Sega to get back in the console race, when they're barely staying afloat as a third-party developer ever since the end of the Dreamcast. Not to mention that they could barely get off the ground with the Dreamcast in the first place (selling about 3 million consoles) considering their shitty business practices the last 15 years. Really, the question isn't necessarily the quality of the console itself, (the Dreamcast was ahead of it's time, and had a decent library of games) but how Sega will find a way to fuck it all up.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Why the hell should Sega start a Kickstarter to fund something they can already fund themselves?
