Also this. The Battlefield franchise is way overrated. The quality of it ended at Bad Company 2.

pretty much every turn-based rpg, i've played some of the highest rated ones like chrono trigger and final fantasy 9 and the combat is incredibly dull, simplistic and boring, and it doesn't help that there's an enemy encounter like every 5 steps you take.

Anything available for smartphones.

Most MMOs. Comic-based games, except old spiderman. Starcraft. Brawl games (Mortal Kombat, WWE etc).

Personally, I don't have an answer to this. There are games I find overrated, but I still really enjoy them.

Maybe you should try the Mario RPGs like Super Mario RPG or the Paper Mario series. The combat in those games is much more involved and random battles don't exist; you see the enemy you fight on the over world. If you make contact then you fight them.

The Last of Us. It was just really boring to me and the AI was completely retarded. Dropped it like halfway through. Multiplayer was actually kind of fun, but got old very fast because there was so little content. I dislike most flavor of the month AAA games, but TLoU was IMO the most overrated game in recent memory.

Any Call of Duty after Modern Warfare.

I also don't like the original FarCry. ( I haven't played the sequels, yet.)

For me, right now it's League of Legends. Everyone in the world and their grandmother are trying to get me to play with them, but I just can't get into it.

I didn't like the Final Fantasy styled combat. When I play overhead view games on the (S)NES, I prefer it to have combat like the Legend of Zelda or Zombies Ate My Neighbors where you just fight and kill on the spot, rather than taking me out of the game, only to make a gamble as to whether or not you'll hit the opponent.

You just gave me a couple new games to add to my list:
Anything past Ocarina of Time. Seriously, the game is just fucking hard, and from my experience, it only tells you the info that you desperately need ONCE. The games aren't straight forward, and in order to proceed or gain any progress, you need to search on the internet.

I could never get into Portal or the Dark Souls series, I honestly thought those games weren't anything special.

Minecraft, fun for a couple of hours, but after that it's a test of patience and pointless fetching for items, certainly not my idea of fun.

Gone Home, probably the biggest crock of shit of a game I've seen in a long time. I can't believe that people will praise this game for it's extreme linearity, bad fan-fiction type writing and dialogue, and logical gaps that are too big to ignore. People who declared this game GOTY last year over games like The Last of Us were fucking stupid.

Yes, it would be better. As I've said, EarthBound and Mother 3 are two games you shouldn't talk shit about.
