Shooting happened in Georgia and stabbing happened in Virginia. I am thinking the News is influencing all the crazies lately. We've had a bunch of shootings and stabbings the past couple of weeks.

That and people probably don't care about black people. So when it happens all the time in Chicago and Detroit it's usually blacks killing blacks and the News turns a blind eye to that.

Yeah pretty much this.We would probably be surprised to how many stabbings take place every week. News big sites just don't find it important enough to report it. You may only catch some smaller news sites reporting such stuff of minor importance(minor importance because of the fact they are not so unusual).

Englewood is where almost all of the crime happens in the city. It's gotten to the point where navigating the area is a safety hazard. Sad really, since most of the shooters are younger than I am.

Your take on the subject seems spot on.
I find it so fucking stupid that there are more and more shootings, because the media covers this shit now. I'm sure as hell that all these shootings have been inspired by the well documented news coverage.
They want attention. They kill.
They've got attention now. Lots of it, if they go on with a shooting.
It's not right to give these fucks attention.
But it does line the news executives' pockets.
What could go wrong with profit, right?
So they give them some more attention, they get the people to start campaigns against this shit, they start blaming it on other shit; video games, the internet, music, television.
They get their posthumous documentaries and dramatic re-enactment movies. 10 to 20 years later they'll still be antagonized by the media and ironically promoted, even if it is in bad light, showing the other batshit crazy folks that they'll get attention too if they do this shit.
The media has made sure that we will not forget that this shit happens, and they have made sure that if it happens, their cameras are locked and loaded to shoot.
It has become an endless cycle.
