Bullied till being transferred?

Have you ever been bullied in school to the point of being transferred to another school?

This is a copy and pasteabout my story from another thread, though I felt it would acceptable to make a thread dedicated on the issue.

At my old school, I made a report about dolphins and they're biological behaviors, which includes mating.

When I mentioned mating, everyone started snickering, and from there on out, people, including the stupid freshman would up to me, and say something like, "hey, did you fuck a dolphin in a blowhole yet?"

Rumor at my retarded Christian school has it that I walked up to my female track coach, and said, "Hey, if you were a dolphin, I'd fuck you in the blowhole!" Which is not true, because why the fuck would I say that to my COACH?!

So as a result, I transferred out to another school because of the bullying. And let me say, I'm much more happier here than there, because girls there actually want to talk to me, and don't think I'm some sort of pedophile.

No, because back when I was in highschool if you got bullied you took it like a man and didn't whine about it until they transferred you. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Your generation is going to be full of sissyboys and ultimately drive society into the ground. Bullying has always existed, it's nothing new. It's pathetic the way that parents and school officials are making such a huge fuss about it now. People need to learn that kids will be kids and kids are some of the cruelest people you'll ever meet. Trying to change that is just like saying it's okay for teenage boys to wear pink glittery One Direction shirts and they should feel no social repercussion for doing so.

You're right, I don't have any authority to tell you how to do things. But I do have the right to call you a fucking idiot and give you some advice that instead of brushing off and calling me an asshole, you should actually listen up. You need to stand up for yourself, or brush things off. People get bullied, it's happening to you, it happened to me, it happened to many others I know. Yeah, it fucking sucks and sure you may just want to die some days, but just fucking bear with it and don't try to hide from it.

I'll put it this way, say you and someone with your same knowledge and set of skills both apply for the job of your dreams one day. The person conducting the interview is ferocious and interrogates you to the core. However, the other person is used to it from years of taking shit from people, while you're used to finding a corner to curl up in when things get heated. Who do you think will perform better? Sure, I'm coming across as mean, but it's some good advice, take it as you will. You can live your life being able to perform when things get tough, or just run away crying. The choice is yours.

I got fat teasing a lot, but I learned to laugh about it. It seriously dampens their attempts at bullying when it doesn't effect you in the slightest, and you throw their own shit back at their faces.

Don't run away again in the future. Learn from THIS, but adapt when it happens again.

Wadezilla, while not particularly graceful about it, is right though. By transferring, you've handed your harrassers a victory that they barely had to work hard for. And one thing I've learned in time is the whole "Alpha male Beta male shit" it sullies our pride a bit...it can get us to subconciously behave in a certain way, and its not always right, but when you compromise yourself just because things are getting a little rough, you're not challenged to change.

School is awful. Looking back, some of the most toxic facets of humanity I've ever witnessed were in-between middle school and high school. It really is kind of a trial by fire, and you have nothing but hormones to thank for that. Because its such a crucial development period, though, THIS IS THE STAGE to hone your ability to adapt. To psychologically deflect the abrasive opinions of those who, honest-to-God, don't matter in your life.

Learn to pick and choose whose opinions to value and who isn't worth the air they breathe...because those people will ALWAYS exist. At least you have a fresh start...thats kinda neat...but don't think that you can just keep hopping from school to school when things start getting heated.

Besides, 70% of the male memory is completely shame-based. Its a potent lesson reminder. Capitalize on that.

situational, I'm aware, but something to consider. Especially in self defense.

Wadezilla and Phobotech are right. As long as you're not being full on victimized, you shouldn't run from your problems. You won't get anywhere just by flinching at a challenge. Negativity is a part of life that everyone needs to learn how to deal with in their own way. If someone called me a dolphin fucker I'd try to respond with a quip of my own, but in a quasi-friendly I'm not bothered by you way. I try to show people that not only am I not going to give them the reaction they want, but that I can play the game just as well if not better.

But that's just how I've always tried to respond. At the end of the day you need to find what works for you, and whatever makes you feel better about you. When someone hits a nerve you have to try to understand how that nerve was so easy to hit, and then build defenses.

If you are being full on victimized by someone that's different. In that case you have every justification to take yourself out of that situation.

I never understand why bullying drives people nuts. I used to be a pussy back in 1st grade and if you called me stupid I would start crying out loud, but I never went to the point to ask my parents to attend another school. In fact, I got myself switched to another class because I stood up for myself and I punched the one who was harassing me.

Oh look, the shortest way to sum up how to deal with bullies that ONLY verbally harass you with a hackneyed joke. I dealt with a lot of idiots while in high school (mostly due to just wearing makeup from time to time and just saying off the wall things). However, I never transferred to another school because after awhile, the crap did not phase me, some people even got worried about me instead of being mean which I found hilarious.

Why did you give in and move? You could have stood up for yourself and maybe make a joke or two about them, and then you would be all even. That's part of being in a social group when you're young. Instead you relied on the system to keep you away from criticism so that you could feel good about yourself. That's not very admirable behaviour, you know. But on a serious note, something like that happened to me in the eight grade. Some kids started saying I fuck cats, and it just grew until I told the principal. He yelled at them, threatening to call the local authorities if they even looked at me the wrong way. And they never told a joke again.
