Now that I've got your attention, please ignore the facebook posts about a two-striped telamonia spider. The spider does notexist.
I admit I was scared out of my mind about an article someone posted about it, but I just YouTubed it, and am really shocked now, that for once some of the articlesI see ppl post on facebook aren't always 100% true!
Really ppl, we gotta research and find out stuff for ourselves, 'cause this is some serious shick to someone like me, I kid you not. Be careful what you hear/believe.

Snopes, Wikipedia, The Straight Dope, etcetera etcetera. They're all good sources of information. Facebook is not one of them.

It confuses me that people just spread those around without fact checking first. I thought I was a gullible person, but not compared to everyone else I guess.

Someone actually told me you can't even trust snopes for information, which is the highest amount of bullshit since that website is checked daily.
Believe me, I'm aware...I live with my older brother who is a HEAVY-handed conspiracy theorists...if it ain't 9/11+Building 7, its GMO's turning us dumb, chemtrails spraying us all to make us docile, fracking to poison us, fluoride in the water to make us dumb and poison us, radiation from Fukushima coming over the pacific and getting carried up into our rainwater irradiating us all....and anyone or anything that tells us otherwise is a "gatekeeper"...to the point where some guy on Youtube with 13.6K subscribers has more credibility than any other source of information.
He's written off that Snopes is a gatekeeper website that fails to tell the truth. He actively hates Neil Degrasse Tyson for claiming nobody died at Fukushima...
...and he "researches this shit all day" just to make me feel like an idiot when I tell him his sources are full of shit, and I have little to no information to back up that claim. Its fucking retarded, dude. He imposes a subject I have no interest about, freaks out that its important, and when I don't care, or I know nothing about it, not only am I an idiot, but I'm a sheep as well, apparently.
People don't like to believe anything any more and that's really sad.
I have to agree...I'm so sick of this shit.

All I can say to this topic is "What?"
Good thing I don't subscribe to chain/spam/whatever so I'm out of the loop as far as that goes. Really just clicked the topic because no idea what that even was, guessed it was pointless, wanted to see some stupid, so, success!
@Phobotech, your brother sounds like a complete idiot, no offense. Give him an aluminum foil hat and tell him "Quick! Put this on before they read your thoughts!"

Sorry if this bothers you, but fracking is pretty legitimately a shady fucking thing. There is a lot of research out there showing it's just not a healthy thing if the by products get into drinking water. Obviously there is some stuff that's been bullshitted, but it is pretty bad.
As for the radioactive rain? That may be plausible, although it's probably not super dangerous. It would make sense that slightly radioactive water is falling as rain, especially on the West Coast.
Its not like some of the shit he says is completely full of shit...I agree that fracking is awful, what with the increased earthquakes and flammable water and such. I agree that Fukushima was handled poorly, but I'm not at the point like he is thinking that the entire Pacific Ocean is a death-trap to Cancerville, thanks to a non-stop leak of Cesium 137 from the multiple melt-down reactors since 2011....
Gahhhh! He rubs off on me, and I hate sounding like him. I agree that our news ain't trustworthy either, and if they make a big deal about something trivial like a celebrity or something, they're probably distracting from something really important like Syria or a massive pollution event.
I don't know what to believe anymore...but I know that if its supposed to prompt fear? Its probably bullshit.

That's the thing with conspiracies. They're not always full of shit but you definitely should use your bullshit detector on them. People who immediately brush off all conspiracies are as bad as those who immediately accept all of them. It's good to take everything with grain of salt, and all that.

Give him this link. Water's pretty good at blocking radiation, and it's the Pacific Ocean that has radiation in it. Except it probably wouldn't harm people due to 1) the concentration and 2) they're not going to be right near it.
