The only thing I'll say at this point is that the Republic of the Sudan will suffer horribly for this act, more then likely by their own hand, sooner or later matters not.
But the one thing that dose matter so is that people in due moment need to one day see Religion more differently, in trade the United States of America will one day have to give Marriage back to the religions respectfully.
The reason? Because if you bring Marriage into Politics, your also bringing Religious Believes into Politics as well, that in trade will violate the Wall of Separation between State and Religion onto itself.
Needless to say, no state will illegality any form of marriage once I'm elected President of the United States as marriages will go back to the religions and ONLY to the religions.
As for Meriam Yehya Ibrahim Ishag, if she ends up getting executed due to Muslim women cannot marry non-Muslims as well as what mentioned on that website link will bring about a major hay-day internationally. That alone points out why bringing Religion into State will do a LOT more harm then good as well as due to the sheer fact the Republic of the Sudan isn't learning what their support to be learning, their own government that is (you know what they say, they won't learn the easy way they will learn the hard way).

You dramatically misunderstand marriage in the US. In the US there already are two marriages. There is religious marriage and there is governmental marriage. Anyone can be religiously married to any, so long as a church allows it. Government marriage is a marriage recognized by the government, and can be completely devoid of religion. Not all religious marriages are recognized by the government just as not all government marriages are recognized by all religions. A religious marriage is not reconized by the government unless the people being married apply for a governmental marriage license at the same time (though common law marriage can come into effect). Governmental marriages are only recognized by any church if that church so chooses to recognize it.
Do not be fooled by the same name, they are two entirely different things.

Ok, let's intervene. Let's intervene despite the fact that:
1. We will be throwing more money at a military operation not unlike Afghanistan.
2. The people there probably favor the laws they live under. Those who didn't broke off to become South Sudan.
3. We will see American soldiers getting killed by pro-Islamist forces.
4. People will perceive this as a broader war on Islam, and it will turn more of the Middle Easterners against us.
