If only there was some kind of rating system...

If only the reviewing system was based on trial and error, slowly built up over time by those who dove into the slew of submissions available in order to figure out, for themselves, what it is they're looking for.

Also, if only reviews were given for everything one engaged with, not just what one was told to review based on preconcieved merit...

Try to review stuff that has recently passed judgment in the classic portal. I'm sure a lot of those people would appreciate reviews letting them know what they could be doing better. Off to a good start with your reviews. Things I would suggest to do though is paragraphs (new paragraph every 5-6 sentences), have a paragraph of what was good and another of what was bad, check some of my flash game reviews if you want examples of how to improve your reviews.

The Review Request Club (with SCTE3 as the lead I think) reviews games, movies and music on Newgrounds. Usually, people leave requests for their stuff, and you get points (!) for doing as many as you can. If you aren't fazed by the idea of a weekly quota and you think you're a good enough reviewer, you can ask SCTE3 if you can join.

We already have a system that tells us which games are good and which games are bad, and to review a game/movie/audio/art all you really have to do is say if you liked it or not and why did you like it or not, can't get any more easy than that.

This is where it started for me...and it can start for you too.

You can even influence your rankings by saving or blamming submissions that are purple (or "Under Judgment")...THEY'RE the ones that could probably value the feedback the most, if you can tell them what worked, why you liked it, what didn't work and especially WHY it didn't work.

You got tons of space to flesh out what you think about the submission. Be polite, concise, and constructive...but most of all, have fun! I tend to get carried away with my reviews, but I make it a point to make it thorough for THEIR sake. "This is whats going through my mind as a viewer, as the audience."

I would recommend you the latest submissions form the Classic portal.
The popular ones, eg the frontpaged, get hundreds of reviews, sadly enough yours will be barely useful to the author.
But in the Classic Portal you will find people who may need your review to improve their future work. I think we have a review club too, you can get some nice advice there.
