yeah, I notice after I post something depending on what I post it get a bunch of people talking and then dies off in just an hour. There's one topic I'm really seriously about, and I would love everyone to share something related to it. I really want to see as many animations made in free programs as possible and maybe use it as a way to show people there are so many ways to animate as long as you put effort into it or something like that.

here it is: http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1365311

Well hey, don't let it discourage you. Topics come and go. If everyone's topic lasted at least 3 pages, there would be too many active topics to fit on the page at once.

It's the roll of the dice. No need to try tactics like whoring your thread in a new thread. Either your thread is a winner or it's not, try posting about something really interesting or great for conversations.

You know you could've just replied to the thread you made before and it would be bumped to the front page of the forum, right?
No need to make useless threads about another thread not being popular anymore.

I wasn't really trying to do that, I just wanted to know how other people do it, I'm seeing topic on the front page from 2008

Another thing I notice is you put it in the "Animation Forum". That place isn't as active as the General Forum.

You're allowed to bump your threads if your question hasn't been answered yet, but the topic has descended away from a noticeable position.

Here are the forum rules - http://www.newgrounds.com/wiki/help-information/forums/forum-rules

Things that will get you banned:
Bumping any old topic without a good reason and new information.

^So, be wary.

Roll of the dice? Nah man. You can totally engineer a thread to hit a higher page count. It's a skill.

I agree with Conal and Radaketor's posts. Bumping your thread is the better choice, as long as you're bumping it with relevant content instead of solely to get it back on the first page.

Keep in mind, not everyone on the forum is into animating. And keep in mind, the BBS can be quite active at times with other threads being replied to and new ones being posted all the time.

You could make a hot topic based on the latest interesting story in the news. You could ask an ambiguous question that would get people instantly wanting to answer it. These can be topics in which people get to show off, the internet loves to share. Personal questions often get people answering, such as; How tall are you? What's your real name? What do you look like? Where are you from?

Think of something that a typical Newgrounder would want to post about.

thanks for that, but this wasn't really made to bump, the purpose of this was to merely ask for advice about keeping the topic alive. I just posted a link if anyone was interested in looking at it. But this wasn't really my intent.

Lol I'm serious! I put that up mostly so people can it so they can easily figure out why it's not a popular topic.

The lifespan of a thread depends on luck or interest from the users about the subject. The topic from 2008 you're talking about was either interesting to other people or it was just lucky and got a huge ammount of people replying to it. Don't feel bad if your first thread dies off quite soon, every thread eventually dies.

yeah, but the thing is, It's a topic that I really want to talk about but no one is that interested and I mostly made to find other people on this site who also use free tools to animate, and if I let it die then no one will be able to see it, and like in the rules you can't repost that topic.
