Do you realize how huge the costs are of developing such a program, versus how small the niche market is, and what sort of consumer is using it? The largest demographic of consumers using this product are corporate. Which means that individuals for the most part are not paying for it. The company that they work for is. Companies producing software like this dont' give a flying fuck if private individuals pirate their product. Because they are making all of their money through CORPORATE customers.
The only people who care about piracy are the music, movie, and videogame industries.
You can always use classic Blender. Duh!
Or K-3D, best alternative without the monsterkilling difficulty of Blender.

That's not the way intelligence works

You're correct for the most part, and I don't know about most developers, but Adobe has been going to great lengths to keep people from pirating their software lately. A big part of the motivation for the Adobe Creative Cloud's creation is that they didn't figure people would be able to crack it like their previous programs, although that didn't hold up too well.
That being said, I think programs like Photoshop or Sketchup would still rake in good money if they were more affordable. I figure lowering the price by a few hundred dollars would multiply the customer base by roughly enough to cover the difference. I don't have the statistics to prove that that's an economically viable approach, but it doesn't seem unrealistic in theory.
I'm talking mostly out of my ass so take all of that with a grain of salt; I haven't been on the planet for real long.

The solution to your problem is quite simple, actually.
Settle for the slightly crappier (yet free) demo version.
This is a sig you dumbass.

I can't believe I just wasted 20 minutes on that game.
Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster.

I can believe it. Mostly because you just explicitly stated it.

There's like 10 of these programs for free. Of course, they're useless unless you're an artist.
