It is art, but the companies are not concerned with art quality, their concerned with making a profit.

what the fuck
Shut the fuck up. Seriously? Not a difficult question. Anything that serves no purpose other than to entertain the mind is art. English developed over thousands of years to describe this bullshit with simple canopy words, but now we're evolving out of that.
Call video games anything you want. Interactive art. Games. Artificial environments are going to be popylar once we have full immersion. The world isn't cut and dry.
Fuck your shit. Fuck it.
It depends on the game, or more importantly, the motive behind making the game. If it's created to to make you feel something, or to tell a story or send a message, then I'd consider it art. If it's just something slapped together to make money, I wouldn't really consider it art.
I think threads can be art, because they can be argued to be able to exist in multiple places they don't fit in.

Stuff a sock in it. Threads don't magically need to be posted in Video Games because they have the word Video Gane in them. That forum's for getting ridoif the mundane shitposting about new releases that used to clog up General 24/7.
Same goes for Politics. It's just there to keep people from spamming news stories and sharing theƮr parents' "genius wisdom" every ducking election season.
I swear, you backseat mods get dumber every fucking year,

Bad analogy.

So does every other medium. The existence of a commercial mainstream doesn't invalidate the entire medium, or you'd also have to say that film and music and books and everything else aren't art.
In video games like in all those other media, yeah, art and commerce overlap. And also like in all those other media, there are mainstream games that lean more towards the commercial and there are independent games that lean more towards the artistic. If the likes of Gone Home or Papers, Please or even a major studio work like Shadow of the Colossus aren't "art themselves" then I don't know what art is.
Anything manipulated by the hands of man is considered art.
A truly prophetic sig...

Those aren't the cool kids, those are the least cool kids.
Sure. Have you seen how beautiful games have looked recently? It's amazing how games that involve senseless killing like GTA can have breath taking scenery.

Oh ok. I would like to see you make a video game, sense you think the process of making one is such a breeze.
Literature isn't art, it's just for keeping records of taxes.
Music isn't art, it's just a way for chanting monks to make their voice travel over long distances.
Photography isn't art, it's just a way to know what people look like.

I consider some games to be art, as in having fantastic art styling to them, but video games are supposed to be entertainment first and foremost. Somewhere along the line, it seems like someone either totally forgot about this premise, or just make arthouse style games for a small segment of asshats to gush over, and treat it as it's the best thing for gaming in whatever amount of time, when that's not even close to the point of video games in the first place.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Yes.
Of course they can! If it can be admired for it's beauty, story telling and the works why the hell not?
Sig by @Brokendeck
i actually don't know what i consider video games to be, they are like weird game toys or something idk

yup! In fact, newgrounds has a whole collection dedicated to "art games" here.
It depends. If you think performance art is indeed art, then you must consider video games as art. In some ways, video games are the ultimate art form, because it's interactive. Yeah, a painting, sculpture or movie is art, but the viewer just...sees it. What better artistic statement can you make than to allow people to create and participate in it?

Look at Nintendo titles like DK and Mario, do you have to repeat your question?
