Knowing the music industry, 50 cent is harmless. As soon as somebody appears on MTV or Much Music, they're already off the streets, making money, and living like a rich kid. He may have record, but mainstream music would never popularize somebody with real teeth.

My brother's friend though was an idiot and got mixed up with one of the gang members, then got his throat cut (just the skin, not the aorta or vein). The point being: I don't think these shootings make TO more dangerous. Mind your own business and you're fine.

Yes I would agree with that. They don't usually bother you unless you bother them.
If you want to find trouble it is close by but it is best to keep your nose clean.

While that is true for the most part, there are still plenty of completely random attacks. Just a few months ago a kid was killed at King George skytrain station in Surrey. He was at the bus loop and two people just started chasing him then threw him down the stairs; he eventually died from the injuries he sustained from the fall. Story here. There were a few other incidents there as well and Translink eventually hired on a few full time security guards for the station.

My bro is moving to downtown TO for a job. I doubt he'll get into that gang crowd. But is TO really that dangerous compared to other big cities?
