Sorry it's just weird that we're not getting any answers, is all. Not trying to offend. I'm just trying to figure out what the heck is going on...it's very strange and unusual. I wouldn't think the mods would do it but even Tom hasn't been answering, it has us all a little worried. I wouldn't think he'd do this either but, there's just been silence...I only wonder what's going down. I wonder who is behind all this and why such a simple thing like user icons. I wonder if there's any reason behind it or just for giggles. Out of all my years on NG, this is one of the strangest unanswered things I've ever seen happen on NG.

It seems like there's an unusual amount of threads being locked or deleted since then, but I haven't been active on the BBS for a long time.
Did you see the thread that was just created, it was a staff complaining about threads getting locked and was locked itself before anyone could reply. Haha

For anyone else who doesn't understand what happened:
Someone found a bug where they changed some information when uploading a picture that allowed them to trick the uploader into thinking they were that person. They told 2 other people, who ended up abusing it.
That is all that happened. It really is not as big of a deal as it seems.

Oh, is that all? Huh...just some dumb kids then. It did seem a little too odd to be an attack, since no one's really getting hurt from it. Thanks for explaining, and I forgot Tom was at Pax. Who knew just a bug could create this though, lol.

You might be able to find your old icons with a web archive.
I had mine turned into animé face.
And as I said on page 2, it was a harmless exploit that edits your icon, no accounts were "hacked", no passwords were stolen, no "sessions" were swapped. It was a simple gag. You guys have been blaming the moderators, calling it an inside job, making up theories that make no sense; relax. Your icon changed, nothing else.
The person responsible said it's been patched. It can't happen again.
