FXX will be airing ALL 552 Simpsons episodes in a row over a 12 day period.
Anyone who says they do not like the Simpsons is probably an Al-Qaeda.

"FXX has essentially issued that challenge, announcing Wednesday that it will air all 552 installments of the animated Fox comedy over a 12-day period, from Aug. 21 through Labor Day"
clear your calenders people.
simpsons marathon is coming.
Hmm. Might be able to DVR all the good seasons (what would that be? up to like 2002? can't remember exactly) if I'm switched back to DirecTV by then. I heard the "Genie" has 1TB of space. I hadn't rewatched an episode in forever until I just recently found that My9 shows older episodes, now. I've been DVRing them. Fox seems to only show newer ones.
At what point should I stop watching?
Was there an exact point where the series become crap?

Pretty sure it was somewhere around the early 2000s. I know it was still decent after the year 2000 at least.

For me season nine was the last classic season. Ten was still enjoyable and at season eleven I find a really strange shift in humor and storytelling. There was always a careful balance of really smart humor and goofy randomness and the goofy jokes became more prevalent and the smart humor started to draw more attention to itself like it had to pat itself on the back for being so clever.
It is what it is though. The great episodes are still great.
Happy with what you have to be happy with

I don't have FXX so I guess I'm sol when it comes to this then....

This is kinda not surprising to me because they honestly don't give a fuck what they air on that channel. I might possibly watch this marathon.
They should sneak in the newer episodes during the old seasons so all those people who say "o da new simpons es crap" can laugh like they should be.

That wouldn't happen because they'd notice due to the show changing.
What are some of your favorite lines? The two that come to mind for me are:
Ralph giving Bart a tour of his yard: "That's where I saw the leprechaun. He told me to burn things."
Milhouse to Bart: "Remember when he ate my goldfish, and then you lied to me and said I never had any goldfish. But why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl??"

That's one fine looking Barbecue pit....WHY DOESN'T MINE LOOK LIKE THAT?!

Oh man I don't even know where to start. Here's the first few that came to mind:
"Everything's coming up Milhouse!"
And of course, "To alcohol! The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems."
Milhouse to Bart: "Remember when he ate my goldfish, and then you lied to me and said I never had any goldfish. But why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl??"
Hahaha, yeah that's also one of the best.

You pretty much summed it up perfectly. The jokes aren't as subtle as they used to be, which I miss.

Without commercials all the simpsons episodes would total about 8.4 days. Which means that marathon would include 3.6 days of commercials.
Oh shit, you figured it out, I'm in Al-Qaeda.

They will air every episode.

Well, there are those who wouldn't like it after Season Nine. If you did a marathon of all the "Pokémon" episodes, it would be even longer!
I probably wouldn't watch after season 13

What if they're Amish and don't know what the Simpsons are?
So they therefore cannot like the Simpsons....

The last three or four seasons aren't really enjoyable. The early days were the best, but it was still ranging between decent and good during the early 2000s until the 2010s.

It's muh birthday. Where is my caik? 5/8/1994 - 5/8/2014
Beer next year!
well then... nobody will see me for 12 days.
I used to like The Simpsons. Even when they started going downhill, it was watchable. Stopped watching for a few years, but saw some newer episodes recently. Holy shit were they bad. They were bland, soulless, resorted to new family guy-tier jokes, and were downright cringeworthy at times. I mean, the 2007 episodes weren't great, but these newest ones don't even seem like the same show at all anymore.

If I have enough room on my DVR, I will try to tape most of it.
