I know that I can download preloaders for free on Newgrounds; but, it appears that everyone is using a progress bar now, similar to Youtube's.

I, however, can't seem to find where to download it? Will it just appear if I submit a movie with no preloader?

That progress bar you speak of... could you be thinking of the video player? Like in...

If so, any video files will use it automatically, it's nothing you add yuorself. For Flash: apart from the official preloaders, there's also the NG API (available to download through that tab on your project page) which usually shows an ad and below it a progress bar that turns to play button. If that's not what you're talking about... maybe you could link to a sample submission?

So it's called a "video player?" And it starts automatically?

Thanks, I was confused because I uploaded a video and clicked the "preview" button, and there was no navigation bar or play button for me.

To use the video player you'll have to upload your submission as a .mp4 file, as opposed to a .swf. Newgrounds came out with a handy tool called swivel that perfectly converts most .swf files to .mp4 without much hassle, because they finally started supporting video files, as you can see. Swivel is completely free and totally worth downloading if you want to start uploading video files.

Well it doesn't really have a name. :) It works similarly to the players on sites like YouTube, automatically providing an interface for any supported filetypes. Tough note: only video files, flash still works independently (which is good since most flash files have custom interfaces built-in).

These formats should all work (copied from the project screen): mp4,mov,avi,m4v,ogg,ogv,wmv,mkv,webm,flv,3gp

Though there have been some quirks with sound issues on a few, supposedly all fixed now. mp4 was the first supported format and probably the one that still works best. As for using videofiles instead of Flash, I still think Flash offers a lot that regular video does not, but more and more seem to favor regular video as it works on all devices. I think NG automatically converts any movies to mp4 format on-the-run, so people viewing submissions on other devices get that served to them instead of the Flash version. You can have both a Flash and Video version of any animation.

I am very glad to hear about this "swivel." I will be shure to use it.

Thank you very much.
