Game Concept Artist needed 2014-04-06 13:46:13

Hello and thank you for taking the time to review our request:

Eagle 1 Studios is looking for sub-contract and freelance conceptual design work for an MMORPG/3rd Person Shooter style game we are developing. We are in a pre-production phase on a sci-fi / real life game. At the moment we have about ten projects that need to be done within the next month, roughly 12 total projects we will be hiring for over the next 1 - 3 months, with about 24 more following that over the next 3 – 5 months, both character, vehicles, weapons, scenes and environments to include technical art that shows the functions or variations of the item.

Please note the following:
1. We are looking for artists who can sign an NDA as well as an Art Release. Should we feel we want to utilize your services regularly in the future, we’ll be looking to put together a sub-contracting agreement. This and the next few projects we will be posting are part of that search for a sub-contractor and/or freelance artist who fits our style and themes.
2. We are looking for highly detailed and high resolution and quality conceptual art.
3. We prefer artists who are trained with a firm portfolio, those seeking Intern positions to complete a Capstone requirement for college, or those in the AAA game markets who are seeking work. We do love those who are self taught, and will happily review your portfolio’s and if you’re a fit we’ll contact you.
4. On the character designs, we’d like enough negative space in the images that we can drop in item labels with lines pointing to items. We’d also like several variations showing (for example) basic clothing then two or three different stages of armor.
5. We will carefully review the portfolios of those who submit a bid within our budget window. We will privately contact that artist(s) we feel fits what we’re looking for.
6. We’d like the pieces to be easily translatable to our 3D crews for modeling.
7. These will be utilized in our Funding Rounds and game website, then again for our 3D modelers.
8. We would be thrilled to include you as the artist or studio in the credits for our product as well
Please read the specifications below carefully. We are being extremely specific to ensure our vision is fully realized. We are looking for the following:

GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS:
1. Image specifications: .psd, .jpg, .tif / 1448 x 2048 vertical / 72 dpi
2. Images should fit an “artistic realism” that we might see in a realistic or real life video game.
3. We prefer clean strong images with a deeper color pallet centered on base values. Due to the story we are putting in this, it is a story of finding hope in the darkness of life around us, it is a story of “reigniting the Human spirit of exploration”, “conquering the Unexplored Frontier”. Sort of that “storm on the horizon”, however a deep rich story needs to invite people. Visually we want to invite the player (viewer) to feel at home in our world, as if the belong there, as if its “home”. Thus color and lighting should reflect those feelings of warmth and peace, a storm on the horizon feel. Lighting should be eye catching while complimenting the piece. Most of all there needs to be a story happening around the central object, with solid eye flow across the piece that leads the viewer to the main item of the piece.
4. I am open to color pallets as long as they fit the themes of the characters and scenes described.

Please note, we are finalizing Round 1 funding and our budget is extremely small at present. However your art will help ensure Round 1 is successful, and we'll be working long term well paid sub-contracts starting next month. Ideally we'd like someone who can work with our Studio for the long term, and is willing to grow with a start-up game studio.

We sincerely thank you for reviewing our request. We are happy to answer questions. And very much look forward to reviewing your work, and hopefully contacting the artists we want to work with.
