Mafia's stimulate economy 2014-04-04 22:22:02

So we all know how corrupt our government is and how it can't manage money such as Obama and his stupid spending policies.
It got me thinking that mafias have been around for years and years and years coexisting with police, even during prohibition mafia's rose up and threatened the establishment so much that it reversed its established rules
They can coerce the gov out of stupid policies and they get so rich that they can donate to ppl.

Mafia's are actually better than we think probably even better than the government
http://archive.freecapitalists.org/forums/p/27005/445221.aspx

Reason 10: The Mafia has a sense of honor. If they say that they will do something, they stick to it. Most people in government don’t have a clue what a sense of honor is. If they say that they will do something, you can count on it only if you’re getting the short end of the stick.

Reason 9: The Mafia code of conduct is simple and clear, and unfettered by legal doublespeak and millions of regulations.

Reason 8: When competing Mafia families go to war, they don’t kill hundreds of thousands of civilians as “collateral damage.” War is good for the government, but the Mafia understands that war is bad for business.

Reason 7: The Mafia won’t conduct a war against you at taxpayer expense just because you want to drink a beer or smoke.

Reason 6: When you buy protection from the Mafia, you get protection. The Mafia has a good track record for limiting violent crime in the areas that they protect. Like the government, they don’t like competition! When you buy protection from the government, you can dial 911 and maybe you’ll get protection or maybe not. Remember, the Supreme Court has ruled that the police have absolutely no obligation to protect you and your family.

Reason 5: The Mafia’s protection is much less expensive than the government’s. The Mafia wants ten or fifteen percent of your profits, while the various levels of government will try to snatch at least 40 to 50 percent of your profits.

Reason 4: Unlike the government, the Mafia wants your business to succeed. They know that ruining your business means that you can’t pay for protection. The Mafia imposes almost no regulatory overhead, nor do they require that you waste your time filling out zillions of tax forms.

Reason 3: The Mafia won’t keep you from protecting yourself or your property, and will gladly sell you the means to protect yourself and your family. The government prefers that you be helpless.

Reason 2: The government wants to regulate your family affairs. The Mafia has no interest in interfering with how you raise your children or run your household.

And the number one reason why the Mafia is better than the government:
Members of the Mafia have a great sense of style, dress far better than government bureaucrats, and are much easier on the eyes.

The only people the mafia kill are the ones that bother them, they're kind of like bees, you leave them alone they leave you alone.

I think we should let at least some mafia's operate in peace they're far better than the gangs of ravenous black and mexican people.

At 4/5/14 01:11 PM, Entice wrote: You're relying on a very whitewashed image of the mafia that comes from movies and TV shows. You should read some non-fiction accounts from people who have actually been a part of an organization. They usually paint a very different image.

You don't seem to get this no offense, Mafia's were very respectful they wen't to court and were friendly with law enforcement and all that stuff. They were very organized and had a sense of humor indicating high intelligence. Plus you didn't really acknowledge the whole tub of reasons I mentioned above.

The government can work with the mafia and besides some killings of people whom were annoying the mafia things will be all good. possibly even better because the bigger the mafia is the more it can keep the government in check

You know I thought you had an open mind but now it seems that you are just another moralizing sheeperson

Bribery, blackmail, extortion, corruption.

That's because they ONLY DID THAT TO PEOPLE WHO BOTHERED THEM OR WERE CONNING THEM OUT OF MONEY. Jeez they're like bees they only attack if you attack them first

They were very organized and had a sense of humor indicating high intelligence.
lmao

I don't know why your laughing it's the truth

Plus you didn't really acknowledge the whole tub of reasons I mentioned above.
Because they're either nonsensical or factually inaccurate.

No because you can't respond to them

Open your eyes

In November 2007 Sicilian police reported discovery of a list of "Ten Commandments" in the hideout of mafia boss Salvatore Lo Piccolo, thought to be guidelines on good, respectful and honourable conduct for a mafioso.[124]

No one can present himself directly to another of our friends. There must be a third person to do it.
Never look at the wives of friends.
Never be seen with cops.
Don't go to pubs and clubs.
Always being available for Cosa Nostra is a duty - even if your wife is about to give birth.
Appointments must absolutely be respected. (probably refers to formal rank and authority.[125])
Wives must be treated with respect.
When asked for any information, the answer must be the truth.
Money cannot be appropriated if it belongs to others or to other families.
People who can't be part of Cosa Nostra: anyone who has a close relative in the police, anyone with a two-timing relative in the family, anyone who behaves badly and doesn't hold to moral values.
The pentito Antonino Calderone recounted similar Commandments in his 1987 testimony:

These rules are not to touch the women of other men of honour; not to steal from other men of honour or, in general, from anyone; not to exploit prostitution; not to kill other men of honour unless strictly necessary; to avoid passing information to the police; not to quarrel with other men of honour; to maintain proper behavior; to keep silent about Cosa Nostra around outsiders; to avoid under all circumstances introducing oneself to other men of honour.[126]

Protection from theft[edit]
Protection from theft is one service that the Mafia provides to paying "clients". Mafiosi themselves are generally forbidden from committing theft[135] (though in practice they are merely forbidden from stealing from anyone connected to the Mafia).[136] Instead, mafiosi make it their business to know all the thieves and fences operating within their territory. If a protected business is robbed, the clan will use these contacts to track down and return the stolen goods and punish the thieves, usually by beating them up.[137] Since the pursuit of thieves and their loot often goes into territories of other clans, clans routinely cooperate with each other on this matter, providing information and blocking the sale of the loot if they can.[137]

Protection from competition[edit]
Mafiosi sometimes protect businessmen from competitors by threatening their competitors with violence. If two businessmen are competing for a government contract, the protected can ask his mafioso friends to bully his rival out of the bidding process. In another example, a mafioso acting on behalf of a coffee supplier might pressure local bars into serving only his client's coffee.

The primary method by which the Mafia stifles competition, however, is the overseeing and enforcement of collusive agreements between businessmen. Mafia-enforced collusion typically appear in markets where collusion is both desirable (inelastic demand, lack of product differentiation, etc.) and difficult to set up (numerous competitors, low barriers to entry).[138] Industries which fit this description include garbage collection.

Client relations[edit]
Mafiosi approach potential clients in an aggressive but friendly manner, like a door-to-door salesman.[139] They may even offer a few free favors as enticement. If a client rejects their overtures, mafiosi sometimes coerce them by vandalizing their property or other forms of harassment. Physical assault is rare; clients may be murdered for breaching agreements or talking to the police, but not for simply refusing protection.[140]

In many situations, mafia bosses prefer to establish an indefinite long-term bond with a client, rather than make one-off contracts. The boss can then publicly declare the client to be under his permanent protection (his "friend", in Sicilian parlance). This leaves little public confusion as to who is and isn't protected, so thieves and other predators will be deterred from attacking a protected client and prey only on the unprotected.[141]

Mafiosi generally do not involve themselves in the management of the businesses they protect or arbitrate. Lack of competence is a common reason, but mostly it is to divest themselves of any interests that may conflict with their roles as protectors and arbitrators. This makes them more trusted by their clients, who need not fear their businesses being taken over.

They aren't bad they're just objective

I actually think a lot of shit politicians are doing is because of the Mafia. Mafia now is involved in corporations and legitimate businesses as much as criminal. They're more white-collar these days. They were also the ones traditionally against Unionization, which is why they went after Jimmy Hoffa and John F. Kennedy.

I, for one, think they are involved with a lot of lobbyism in the White House and doing side-deals and shit. I don't see them as a positive force, but another criminal enterprise that has infiltrated the White House to help pass or influence laws in benefit for their businesses at the expense of us, the people. In that way, they are no different than the corporate lobbyists and corrupt politicians, in fact, they are friends with them and helping the process along.

There is nothing noble or honorable about the Mafia. Omerta is a sham, and all this sense of honor and loyalty is bullshit these days. It's not like Goodfellas. These people are crooks and thugs, who are only interested in profit. They are no different than the corporations or politicians you mention, because many of them ARE CEOs and Senators.

They are not a counter-balance to the government, they are just an organization orgiinally made up of poor minorities who became rich by bribing and extorting people, for centuries, until they gained enough wealth to bribe people into helping them get ahead, and then turning around and starting "legitimate" businesses, as a front for illegal activity.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if much of campaign money for politicians came from the Mob. You can say the mob donates to cherity, but so do a lot of rich folks, who use it as a way of getting a tax-ride-off. I am a big fan of mobster movies, so I;'ve spent time researching the Mafia, and I can tell you: those guys are murderers, thieves, and embezzlers, and nothing more. They just happen to be very good at getting away with it. Sounds like another group we know, huh?(*cough* congress *cough*)
