Fallout 1 help

I have a Windows 7 gaming Pc and I just got Fallout 1 on steam. When I tried to run the game istead of the brotherhood guy on the cover my graphics were all warped and in shades of pink, red, green, yellow, and light blue. Same thing when I was chattiing up the overseerer and making my character. This all happened on my last computer as well but the strange thing is that even the actual game was was doing this as well. Does anyone know a fix for this? I can't take any pictures because the game doesn't have a button for taking screen shots that I know of.

Have you Googled your problem?

You're likely to find MUCH more helpful people on the steam/fallout forums, and other gaming forums and sites, than on NGBBS General.

We're mostly just going to be abusive and not help you.

Seriously, Google, when I have been able to fix bugs in my games, was the thing that did it for me.

Before you run the game:

Change your desktop background to solid black and open up the screen resolution window (don't change anything).

Then run the game.

Thank you, I tried alot of the stuff on the steam forum but they just broke my game more. This worked and know I can actually play fallout!

F12 won't work because when you run it it isn't connected to steam with anything that tries to fix it so therefore unless Fallout would have had that key the only other way to get screenshots would be to download a program.

Solution: turn off game then play 3 and/or New Vegas.

Thanks for the suggestion but no, when I tried that it gave me a two mods that attempted to fix my game but did absolutely nothing to fix the problem.

I have Windows 8 and another computer running Vista and Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 both do that to me as well. Usually I just go into my windows properties (Like right cilck on the desktop etc, you know, your desktop and appearance properties/personalize) and I change the colors to I think 16 bit and that always fixes it. It's been awhile since I have played but fiddling with the colors always corrects the issue. I did not have to download any patches or any fixes, I just changed the colors.
