any tips for live action in flash?

Now I know flash isn't really built the best for working with live action video but right now I don't have the dough to get after effects, so I was wondering if you guys had any tips or work arounds on compensating for flash.

I have been able to make fade in/out effects by tweening the opacity of a video embedded in the timeline as well as merging live action and stop motion video by masking certain portions of the live action video and compensating if there is a lighting difference by lightening or darkening certain regions with semi-transperant layers.

Any advice would be welcome.

If you convert a drawing into a movieclip symbol (select>F8>check Movieclip>OK), then select it again and go to the Properties panel, you can change the 'blend' mode to something like 'overlay' mode.

You can also do motiontweens to movieclip symbols by doing this:
1) Make sure it's on its own layer
2) Right-click on the frame, and press Create Classic Motion Tween
3) Extend the frame with F5 and make a new keyframe next to it (F6)
4) Move the position of the movieclip

And if you already know how to do this, ignore everything I say.

You can't know what you don't know if you can only use yourself as a reference point.
