Unexpected blam count. 2014-03-26 08:43:17 Reply

Yesterday, a lot of flashes were blammed. Can anyone remember the last time when a day's obituary count was this high?

Looks like some submissions were removed, not all that appears in the Obituaries is counted as a blam. Also to answer your question, yes. During the days we started to crackdown on shovelware bullshit we hit some new high scores in Obituaries count.

April 24, 2012 - 1,028
April 25, 2012 - 2,725 (current highest amount of blams/content deleted in one day knocking out a record amount from way back in 2003-2004)

That's nothing. We used to blam more flashes than that on a daily basis.

I remember '05-'09; 50 was a typical number.

Seeing as there's a whole bunch with similar titles, it looks like several were removed.

You had my hopes up that we might be starting to have standards.

I've been trying to upload 5-6 flash files since late 2013 but you know what THEY ALL GOT FUCKING BLAMMED. My christmas submission was my fucking finest creation IMHO coz I put so much hours and days into that sub but it didn't even pass.

I think it's due to the new rating system or people are just asshole.

For reasons similar to the shovelware incidents; pouring useless junk into the portal, without any sign of improvement.

I know it's already been said over and over, but to put it into perspective, that's 1.89 people's hard work being destroyed every minute. That's a big number.

Wow, you never see that these days. I just wish I didn't miss a lot of them. I also wish this site didn't have so many savewhores who vote 5's on submissions that shouldn't even be uploaded onto this site. Whether it's a trailer, a speedpaint, a demo, etc. I can't believe that shit gets saved most of the time. We need more days like March 25th, 2014 that's for sure.

That is nothing. I remember the old days when you could get over 100+ blam points in one day. Plus back then you could also get blam points if you voted 0 on flash movies it got marked for review then deleted. I always loved those days since they would give an unexpected but pleasant boost to your blam points.

Now because stuff gets unpublished you don't get those anymore. But the worst thing about this is that if some like this passes judgement then get's unpublished you still get to keep your save point where as you don't get blams for unpublished shit.

Published and unpublished stuff? I've never heard of any submissions being labelled that way.

When a submission is submitted it can also be considered published. When a submission is removed by the author or a portal mod such as me, it's called unpublished because it wasn't blammed, just removed.

Yeah man, holy fuck. When I first signed up and actually B/P'd, there'd be hundreds if not over a thousand spam flashes and shit flashes and the occasional ok flash blammed every day.

If you don't like people voting down your submissions, don't come to Newgrounds. Post your Hentai elsewhere.

Maybe for some reason some people liked your shit submissions more than the ones you put more time into.

That is weird, unfair, and a little insane how some voters decide on that.

Then you have your blind voters who just don't care what passes through as long as they get blam or save points...

Right. This has been a given, right from the get-go; most voters either don't have the time (busy with everyday life and such), or they rely on mere numbers as the way to judge a submission instead of taking some time to give a few pointers to the authors; long or short, depending on the user.

Reviews help in this, as does being mindful on how our vote can make things a little better.
