I think this question is a little irrelevant but still interesting to find out people's habits. Mozart could churn out a symphony in no time at all, almost like hearing a track in your mind and writing it all down as you hear it. Wagner and Brahms took years to complete works. The same is true today. I imagine Skream puts out material compulsively, but I'm sure there are people who take years too. At the end I really think it's not speed that's important, but what your relationship with energy is.
That being said, personally I find it advantageous to learn how to work efficiently so that you are deliberate about what you want, and can imagine quickly to produce results. Additionally, I'm going to make a plug for Ableton and say that ever since I switched from Logic, the workflow is better, easier, faster, and so much more organized.
