So I bought some light bulbs from the dollar store. One of them lasted only a couple weeks. One of them didn't even last three days. I have a feeling I'm going to go through these bulbs fast, rofl.

I bought some Dollar Tree (dollar store in my area) lightbulbs, had them on the shelf for a year (or two), and 4 months ago installed them in the bathroom (good ole 75 watts; none of them gay ass "energy saver" bulbs) and they still work perfectly fine.
Seems you just got a bad batch.

Some of the best CFLs I've bought were from a dollar store:
-Instant on
-Short warm up time
-Dimmable
-15W=75W or 23W=100W
-Only $6 a pair!

I don't know anything about light bulbs, I just buy the ones that say they last the longest and then never pay attention to how old they last

Yeah but I think you'd notice if you got one that didn't even last three days. Well I'd hope you'd notice anyway. I think I turned it on a total of three times and one of those was the initial test after install.

I don't find dollar store goods to generally be too low-quality, but coming from a small company it's bound to be that quality control is lacking.

I bought 3 light bulbs from a dollar store last month, 2 of them didn't work at all. Chinese stuff!

Careful, those dollar store bulbs are probably loaded with lead.

I've had the same lightbulb in my bedroom for over a year now. I bought it from Homebargains or some shit like that, cost me next to nothing.

Seems you got some bad bulbs. I bought some dollar light bulbs early last year and they still work.

People still buy physical lightbulbs?
Why not get cloud illumination?

My country stopped selling those mini-suns years ago.

Oooh lead. So scary.
Well, all fluorescent bulbs contain mercury, which is much worse.
At least with lead (solder) you can just wash your hands if you touch it.

I agree. And the bulbs I got were the older filament type bulbs and not the newer mercury-containing kind. But this particular batch doesn't seem to last long at all lol. Less than three days is such a joke.
Personally I find it a bit odd to force the retirement of the older filament type bulbs considering isn't mercury seepage from waste into the water supplies going to be a problem at some point? I know you're supposed to recycle the mercury types (I think legally you're required to, but not 100% sure on that) but we all know most people will just throw them away. I mean if everyone recycled them it wouldn't be an issue but you know they won't.
When I absolutely can't get the filament types anymore I think I'll just go straight to LED bulbs and skip the mercury types.
