should tom fulp make a new pico

i am wandering what all of you say to the idea of tom making a new pico anything i think it would be nice to have a new official installment to the game.

i also think that his lack of a pico 2 from him self is one of the reasons pico day has such low attendence confused let me explain.

its been 15 years so all inspiration from his origanal pico stuff is pretty much used up because there is only so much one can build on with the small amount of information on the characters villens and scenerios he made for them all those years ago and pico day is full of fan fiction plain and simple.

if you use fanfiction to write fanfiction about the series the other fanfiction was about and then pull other information from a different fanfiction things get dry and un interesting eventually. cause if you add anything big and new like a new villen of some sort people will get kinda mad enless its basically a remixed copy of an existing villen in the series . so with out new offical material about pico you eventually hit a brick wall

I'm not sure how you know that pico is 15 years old because you don't seem like you're fifteen.

I never got the obsession with Pico's School. Other than how children in school used to play it all the time on websites that had stolen it from NG and go on about it being the best thing ever, while ignoring me when I was trying to point out how there are far better games on NG itself.

I always hated that game, it was too simple, and really cheesed. I don't do idol worship, sure Tom made the site, but Castle Crashers, and BBT show he's way more capable than some game making fun of goth kids, and school shootings.

The cool thing is that Unity is getting better and better, as well as the ability to sell games on-line, so some day if I followed through on the Unity version, it could be really cool and we could sell it to cover the costs of production. So we're talking years out from now but it's still possible... Maybe my kids will be teenagers and they'll be like "You gotta do it!"

Pico 2 was never another school shooting story, BTW, it was the events that unfolded after the first Pico. The whole school shooting was a plot by aliens to create fear and panic on earth with the expectation of leading to a totalitarian security state that would be easier for the installation of alien overlords. After 9/11 happened the whole story became even more relevant, it's just a shame the scope of it got out of control... The plot basically covers continued efforts to create fear and panic, with Pico taking on a whole cast of mischief makers ranging from previous-generation gang bangers (ghettobots) to next gen genetically modified "normal kids" - the most sinister and brutal yet, leading up to a total alien invasion. SOME DAY RIGHT?

Unity and Gamemaker can be good and all, but with the ease to create games comes the inevitable waves of crap which those two have in abundance, they are still great programs and all, but there is sort of a stereotype of expecting poor from them to beat, then again that is the same with flash.

OH MY GOD YES THAT SOUNDS FUCKING AWSOME. i mean seriosly that sounds amazing not only would it be amazing to play but it would drum up a ton of exitment for newgrounds and really inspire people for pico day giving them plenty of ideas for new flash . while were on the subject why did you shelve such an amazing idea for a game it sounds like you could have made a tidy sum off of it

The loftier ideas just tend to collapse with time... But times not up yet. If it ever gets made, it will be much better for the time and experience that came in-between.

I'm a little confused by this. Why did GameMaker come into the equation? I hope people don't think the two are comparable. Unity is a game engine while GameMaker is like some kind of game building tool aimed at people with not much development experience. The only reason you'll sometimes see lower quality games made using Unity is because it's a free engine, so people are more likely to experiment with that than something which is going to cost them money. I'd also hardly say it's easy to create games with Unity, it takes skill. Unity isn't some kind of drag and drop software that builds you a game, it's an engine.

i agree from what youve said about your idea it will be much better and a worthy successor and heck since you got alien hominied onto a console you will definitely be able to get this master piece on one personally i cant wait

Actually, Valve is under contract to produce Pico 2 on behalf of Newgrounds. It's slated to be released February 2004.
