3.93 / 5.00 4,634 ViewsRecently got around to playing through the recent Aesop Rock album (I'm tardy, I know) and there were a few moments the lyrics just completely hit me. I think we all have some lyrics that hit us like that though, ones that either resonate or just convey emotions all too well.
So, anyway, ITT we post up to 4 lines of god-tier lyrics.
Today I pulled three green frogs out of leaf and bark
Where the grape vines climb a convenient barn
I told them, "You will grow to be something tenacious and exalted;
You are mighty, you are gracious, you are lauded"
Oh, you touch my tralala,
Mmm... my ding ding dong.
La la la la la la la,
La la la la la la.
Without truth, there is no justice.

Goddamnit, I remember when that was a legitimate song on the radio. Music used to be soooooooooo shit
I know it's a vanilla choice but I've got to go with Lou Reed, his voice was never on the level of Mercury or Houston but his lyrics were outstanding.
I always loved the line in perfect day 'you made me feel like I was someone else, someone good' :'( RIP
The crowd had gathered there to watch him fall, to watch their hopes destroyed.
They watched them beat him, they watched them break him, they watched his last defense deployed.
There was not a man among them who would let himself be heard.
But from the crowd, from their collective fear, arose these broken words:
We are the dead
- Hope Rides Alone, The Protomen
Satsui No Hado
I'm going to have to go with 10001110101 by Clutch.
Ain't nothin' you can do about it.
Gonna Be a big brawl over it, like them itty bitty babies in the king cake.
Bonnie and Clyde, the whole dome...

You look nice today.

Cereal is pretty cool. If you're cool you'll add me on Steam. Also, Letterboxd.

My heart's getting heavy, my blood's getting cold, you changed me into something that I just can't control.
If you see me coming, best get out of my way. The Pendulum is swinging back the other way.

I'd also like to share some Aes Rizzle lyrics:
"We don't need another hero, homie
Go gallop off on your My Little One Trick Pony"
-Some freestyle or something, I think.
Nothing super fancy, but makes me laugh every time. Also reminds me of that internet-stereotype that guys who defend women on the internet are supposedly super-nerdy or something. What are they called? White-knighters or something? I dunno, I don't visit 4chan as much as the rest of the BBS does.
But on a more serious note:
His whole Daylight EP is full of emotional, powerful lyrics and awe-inspiring quotes and lyrics from songs like, Daylight, Nightlight, Nickel Plated Pockets, and the untitled track at the end. That untitled track in particular...Jesus, what an intimate look into in his life. It's basically about his going through a serious mental breakdown in the early 2000s. I'd say around twelve years ago, give or take a year or two.
The lyrics are "plain" in the sense that they're a lot easier to understand when compared to typical Aesop lyrics, but he's obviously not trying to be fancy in that song. None of that takes away from the fact that you can hear and feel a sort of sense of what he went through. Not fully, of course, because I'd reckon it's next to impossible to truly understand something like that until you've been through it.
OH! And the song "None Shall Pass" by good ole Bazooka Tooth is a great one as well. I mean, they're all great, but I especially like this song.

YES. Definitely. Fucking, any Aesop bars pretty much, but Labor Days is the album you link anyone who asks about Aesop Rock. Have you played through Skelethon yet? I gotta say, even bars aside, the beats Aesop wrote for it are just crazy.
Taikatalvi by Nightwish is amazing and the lyrics (especially because of Marco's vocals) are beyond amazing (it's basically a Finnish poem) because how well they go with the music and the theme of the song. That plus Finnish sounds really cool.
I especially love the second stanza:
Päällä talvisen maan hetki kuin ikuisuus
Mi pienen kissan jakoin luokseni hiipii
Tääl tarinain lähteellä asua saan mis
Viulu valtavan kaihon
Ikisäveltään maalaa
Laulullaan herättää maan

In winterland a moment is an eternity that
Creeps to me on kitten paws
I get to live here where the story begins
Where a violin echoes the eternal melody of immense longing
Waking up Gaia with its song
4:08 PM - Detective Prince: why does it matter HOW MANY of a thing you've watched
4:09 PM - Nor // [Loli]: Anime is a fucking sport
I can never not shiver with The Spirit of Radio, by Rush. Maybe it's a bit cliche, but it always gets to me. Waking up hearing "Begin the day with a friendly voice..." is always a pleasure, and indeed makes my day better from the beginning.
Rush is full of lyrics with this similar "feel", it's great.
Woe to you, Oh Earth and Sea,
for the Devil sends the beast with wrath,
because he knows the time is short...
"The word predicts the future, and tells the truth about the past, and how the world leaders will hail the new pharaoh"
Washington Is Next by Megadeth
Definitely "Save Yourself" by Stabbing Westward.
My life has been a nightmare
My soul is fractured to the bone

I think I'd rather be alone

Also, I like annoying Americans by calling English football "real football" and American football "rugby".-Lost-Chances
Faded grey are all the days of yesteryears
So much time has turned to memories and to tears
Lately I have often sat and thought till dawn
Of the days that are to come and those forgone
Seemed my time had passed me by
Like clouds across the sky
I was lost just like a raven in the night
Most dreams waste away alas
Mine all have come to pass
Since I laid my eyes upon my guiding light
Almost every time I listen to it my mind is blown. Most cats in my area be lovin' the hysteria. Synthesized surface conceals the interior.

I can't bring myself to listen to the entire song Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground, by Willie Nelson, without shedding a tear, I usually start getting teary eyed by the time he says, "I knew some day you'd fly away." the first time.
WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THAT DUDE WITH THE RED HAT BROWN TRENCH COAT AND SHOTGUN?!?! I miss the old ASSASSIN days. Click Me

It floors me how awful it is, but at least now I know how to spell lasagna, thanks Wayne
Aesop Rock is retarded
In what world are frogs lauded or exalted
It doesn't even make sense it's just pomp for idiots who think it's impressive

Why do you have awful taste???
"Ashes, ashes, we all fall down". Am I the only one that is puzzled that children are singing about the Bubonic Plague?

That's the point yo. The song's about being horrible inside and feeling disconnected from the world, so Aesop goes around finding disgusting, poisonous animals and trying to see the good in them. It's about the power and the limitations of love.
I'm not even angry. I'm being so sincere right now.
Even though you broke my heart and killed me.
