3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsIn 2012 we hosted Stencyl Jam 2012 here on Newgrounds. Stencyl is game creation software that makes game development possible for non-programmers, using a drag and drop editor to build your games and game logic. For more information, check out Stencyl.com!
Since then, Stencyl 3.0 has arrived with a lot of great new features. In addition to the web, you can release your games to iOS, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux.
To celebrate the ongoing success of Stencyl, Newgrounds is hosting Stencyl Jam 2014!
The event starts today and ends Friday, March 28th. The theme is wide open; make any game you want, just make it with Stencyl. This is a great chance for both new and established devs to get motivated, make something and maybe win some money!
So to sum it up:
1) Make a game with Stencyl.
2) Upload it to Newgrounds by March 28th.
3) Tag it with "stencyljam2014" so we find it.
Your entries will be featured on our Stencyl Jam 2014 page. It would be great if you include a link in your game to the collection, to spread awareness and cross-promotion, although it isn't required. You can also do whatever you want on the side to monetize your game, although we do have a handy ads API that is integrated with Stencyl if you want to try that. Don't forget you can also wind up selling your game on mobile or Steam!
And yes, PRIZES!
1st Place - $500 + Stencyl Studio License
2nd Place - $300 + Stencyl Studio License
3rd Place - $200 + Stencyl Studio License
If you've ever wanted to try making games, this is a good time to start!
Go to Stencyl.com, download Stencyl and check out the crash course intro!

Woohoo!
Thats's pretty neat!
Sadly I won't have time spare to work on anything for it, good luck to anyone that does though, sounds good.
Deadline too early for me. I'll have to make something next year. That's dependent on if NG and Stencyl are still around (fear).
I'll make a pixel pic or two for at least one person who asks though. :)
Really looking forward to this. Some pretty good stuff has come out of the Stencyl Jams.

Especially these two. They're two of my favorite games on here.
The latter moreso than the former though.
ARGH!
I have to make:
Windows MEE
UTool v2.0
MazeEscapeSortOfNotAtAllMaybe
Multichoice Demo
But I don't want to miss this opportunity.
Fuck it, let's try out Stencyl.

Is it worth making a game?
Should I download Stencyl and waste a good bit of megabytes?
But wait....500$ first price?! Never mind the studio version...
Alright let's get to work!
Big prize money, good to see. GL to jammers, I have my own crap to work on for the next while.
Stencyl still needs work on it, I had few bugs there and there. (Last used 2013)
However it's really good for beginners and for guys that want to keep it simple.
Good luck to all contestants.
Can you enter more than one game? I have 2 ideas but haven't made one with Stencyl yet. Be lucky to get one done but thought I would ask.

You can enter more than one but might be better off focusing on one idea at a time and see how it goes!
Not sure if I can make something for this, as I have little experience with stencyl's coding syntax.
Will there be a construct 2 gamejam for 2014? That's the program that I have the most experience with.

No plans at the moment but I'd be down for doing one later this year.
Looking forward to see what greatness this'll generate, maybe even make something.
Wasn't there a Stencyl Jam last year btw?
I participated in the stencyl jam 2012 one but never released the game. Good Luck to all participants
Hell yes. I've been holding back game deving to work on other projects. Now I have excuse to make some cool new game.
This is going to be awesome! I'll definitely try to get something entered if I can. Also, cool to see my game Mond Cards was noticed and featured!
Would it be alright for me to ask, on this thread, if any one of the participants is looking for a musician?
Wish I could work on a game with stencyl too bad I'll have to wait a few years or so to get a go for that 500,but to those who will be making a game with stencyl I'll be looking forward to play your games.
Sounds interesting. Maybe I'll give this a try!

Uh guys?
Once again, musician ready and willing! >:O
PM me if you'd like some original tracks -- I'll be happy to help!
If any Stencyl programmer or team needs a musician, don't hesitate to contact me, @Troisnyx @SkyeWintrest or @samulis for music. We're all here to help.
I'll give it a try, I have a few ideas in mind.

I just wanted to leave, you know, my apartment. Maybe meet a nice girl. And now I’ve got to die for it!

Been using it for almost a year. It's easy to learn, and I've improved so much.
