it does seem a nifty feature for those on your friends list and would give the friends list a bit more use. i would like to use such a feature though the chat as it is works for me.

i would think it would get out of hand quick if so many people tried IM'ing you all at once, especially for moderators. it would make for a quick response to reporting something but like 10+ people linking you to the submission / thread all at once could be a hassle.

if we were to get this insta-pm feature the bbs emotes are a must!

I wouldn't give a fuck. I don't have any friends in real life or on the Internet, so it wouldn't matter.

To be completely honest, I don't think I'd use it. I am all for a chat system and think it would improve the user base, but I have no reason to ever use a chat system on NG. I am rarely at my computer long enough doing something non-work related to warrant the use of IM.
