If anyone has any suggestions for an audio collab, like that Pico Day Radio for instance, then perhaps we could talk about it? I would love to get involved in something like this.i agree. we could come up with something to attract attention. we're a fairly creative bunch, i'm sure we could come up with something.
Now for all intents and purposes, Newgrounds as a site started in 1995. (Public access to the site is another story.) Which means technically, next year is NG's 20th anniversary. I don't know if we're going to do anything spectacular about this, but I think it's an opportune time to build up some support.

yes. a big audio portal collaboration could not only bring in support, but it could also bring us closer as a community. even though i'm rather new, i feel like the community could be "friendlier" towards one another. when do we start?

Let's see what everyone thinks of this.
According to the history section, NG when it first started as a webpage came up in 1995, and it was known as 'New Ground Remix' then. Newgrounds proper was a merging of that site and another, and it happened in 1998. What date do we use then?
And ideally, I'd like the help of some AP regulars on this.

There is only a few things about NG I could do without.
The sleazy advertisements would be my number one complaint, and number two would be the fact that when I search for "Metal" I don't want a dubsteb song to come up cause some people feel that there dubstep is metal. (IT IS NOT!)
That being said there is a lot of good things about NG too. For instance these forums, very helpful for getting advice and such.
In short, use both.
The game....

Having used both SC and of course NG, the thing that's attracted me to stay here is the community. I don't feel like Soundcloud has a proper community like Newgrounds does. There's just so much passion and kindness on this website, even amongst the minority that bring things down. It just looks and feels a lot more homelier due to the web designers on here. Soundcloud almost looks clinical to look at.
As for an idea of a mass project, I'd be more than happy to participate. I don't think we need a 20th anniversary idea, but it'd be nice to come together as a community and show the rest of Newgrounds that the Audio Portal is an awesome place to be. We'd need some sort of project leader though. ^_^

we need an idea for this audio portal thing. maybe we should start a new thread? i'm not sure how to go about this. we need someone who has been in the audio portal for a really long time.
to stay on topic.... soundcloud's community is only good if you follow the right people. even then, those people could fall of the face of the earth.

I agree with this, there isn't quite a musical website as homely as newgrounds. Everyone is involved with each other and everyone is always improving from one another, whether they are beating the crap out of each other through a review, or they are giving a "@Step review". I go to a music school and it's amazing how I have never met any better composers than the ones here on newgrounds, and it's ONLY newgrounds.
Soundcloud to me is the general place to upload my music. I don't really care about it much other than another place to upload my music. It's also full of spammers and fake accounts, where on newgrounds you really get to know people.

Sorry for the double post everyone, a huge collab with everyone would be pretty awesome. Or maybe even an album? Sometimes doing a collaboration is hard to put together and conflicting ideas and such. There are some downsides to this though, such as not being able to make an album on newgrounds :P
I think some sort of collaboration would be wonderful!

We had several massive collabs. Mostly it was like "you do your part, I do mine" kind of thing.
The album idea is more solid and interesting. We can work on some concept theme(s) and make the story out of it. It would be awesome. We could upload song by song and linking everyone who participated to the tracks. Then put in a playlist.

Who awakens me from my slumber! :P
Ive been reading this thread and watching it, and to be frank, I use SC as a dumping ground as the community doesn't seem to explore outwith it's own niche and circle. I find that Newgrounds you find new artists and individuals much easier. Anyway, a handful of you seem to be interested on putting on a show, to gain interest. I like the passion here and although im quite loaded with work, I always try to find time for a NS's community gig!

Well, maybe we should make this happen then. Everyone can do one song, we would just need to decide if we want a theme or not and what it would be. Upload it to band camp and do what you said about the playlists.
Collaborating on one song seems tough because everyone has different ideas and people get left out because they want to contribute on things that aren't assigned to them, but this way everyone can do it their own way and how they want. And like deadbea wanted, it would attract attention.

Or how about putting a NG album together consisting of a bunch of collaborations? Getting a team together of two people working on a particular track either by random means, or by volunteering with whoever you would like to work with. I prefer the latter.

maybe genre specific? like two people working on the same genre they're both familiar with.
should we make a new thread for this? it has gotten away from it's original topic.

A big audio collab would be nice. I remember a while back there were a few great collabs such as a piano collab, a 5 second collab, etc. Perhaps we could do more. Or maybe I'll hoist myself to host one. >.>;
As for the difference between SC and NG, honestly SC is a better designed site for music and NG has the better community. That's how I see it.

I feel like soundcloud is my handy embed tool for Facebook. Newgrounds has definitely helped me grow as a musician, the reviews are honest and constructive. soundcloud is all positive vibes and sometimes I feel like I need a "bro this sucks and here's why" every once in awhile. :>
