Would all atheists become Christians because atheists would no longer be different from everyone else and feel smarter than everyone

Only if they become depressed and look for deeper meaning to their miserable life.
I've heard of it happening in atheist families - See Mel Gibson.

Atheism doesn't even exist, because the claim is being made by those that call themselves so and so. "atheists" are just people that aren't making that claim, and have better ideas as to why everything is the way it is.
You do not make examples, you make excuses; you do not solve problems, you shift problems; you do not stand behind your statements, you stand behind your stasis.

They already feel smarter.
Same feeling Christians feel about atheists.
None of it makes any sense. I personally ignore it.
The world will still have the same hatred. Although....I suspect the sex will be better.

No, ha ha! Of course not!
Atheism, (a + theos & ism), is the belief that there is no god. People (even ones who are religiously indoctrinated) reach that point of belief for many different reasons. Most of the atheists I know came to the realization that there is no god through studying science, history, and religion. They tend to build friendships with people who share their intellectual vigor, but not necessarily the same interests. So: it's not about feeling smarter than other people. It's just about being smart.
I hope this helps you!

Only if people use it as a badge, the regular person who don't believe in God would have no idea what atheism is unless someone tells them :P

Can't have a belief in something that others irrelevant to you, or the world's actual state of existence, which hasn't been proven in the slightest. Are we going to start making labels fr people whom do not believe in boogymans, fairies, you get the idea? Of course not. Atheism is a word for only ignoramuses, or addressing it intellectually.

Religion doesn't mean you believe in a god. Religion generally means you have beliefs bigger than yourself. Buddhism, and Confucianism don't even rely on a on God, and I think both of them actually tell you they isn't one. But that's debatable.
I don't understand why atheists don't want to associate themselves with religion. As inevitability they will have the some dark history as all religions. Personally I found all atheists to have a longing for higher understanding, and a picture of what that might be.

I think each religion would just have less significance and trying harder to gain followers.
