Ad Block is also destroying sites since without ads the sites can not make any revenue which makes the Supporter upgrade a great thing.

A great thing I can't afford.

Don't the normal site cookies = ads running? Or do the pictures need to load for @tomfulp to make a buck?

So are ads included in all content or just if the author(s) choose to include it?

I could see this maybe being a problem for fair-use type submissions if the presence of ads negates its fair-use status. Especially if the author gets no say in it.

In any case I wish Newgrounds luck and hope it sticks around long after Facebook, Youtube, etc are ancient history.

That's not my problem the ads are. I will not willingly pay to be advertised to and I also will not pay not to advertised to. Ad block is not destroying sites by any means.

dump files load really slow for some reason
Those aren't being cached with the CDN so that is probably it.

Yeah I've been noticing that too, was surprised since the site hasn't seemed slow to me even before the CDN was set in motion. Good to know; good to hear about those video ads rolling in! All the best with them Internet issues.

i don't think we're affiliated with Verizon or whatever directly, but I have definitely noticed the site running much smoother, less lag....takes a fraction as long to log-in. even seems like content loads faster. *shrug*

For Newgrounds to survive they must go open source see this https://prism-break.org/en/ with media goblin http://www.mediagoblin.org/ being newgrounds main ammunition along with joomla http://www.joomla.org/ and phpBB https://www.phpbb.com/ I think adding Unity support is not the way to go Torque 2D a free and open source 2D game enginr just became browser compatible http://freegamer.blogspot.com/2014/02/devcorner-multiple-new-platforms-for.html?m=1#disqus_thread perhaps should focus on putting browser version of Torque 2D on their site along with the ability to export Torque 2D games on Mediagoblin and replace Newgrounds current player with Mediagoblin

There's no Unity on Linux :(

Working on it.

But it'll start out Debian based.
Probably will move on to Gentoo afterwards.

Mediagoblin probably would be a good idea.
Although I dislike Unity's closed sourceness, they do have a great product that is good for 3d games.
Torque 2d would be great for devs here to make mobile games, but not so much to make online 3d games.

Speaking of which, why don't we have a section of the site dedicated to online gaming?

There is Torque 3D for 3D games since its free and open source you could add browser support to it not to mention Godot is becoming open source this month http://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/godot-game-engine-going-open-source.2901 It is said to be exactly like Unity you could also add browser support to that when it becomes open source.

From the amount of links haphazardly crammed into your posts, I occasionally wonder if you've been infected by some organic form of adware.

Now to the voting it all seems hard to choose.

You should look at the Photon and Puffin web browsers. They're in both the iOS and Android app stores and give your phone the ability to play flash. There's another in Android only called Flashfox.

Well, since all these changes started, it got harder and harder for me to see anything on this site. First, the videos didnĀ“t load anymore, but the games still did for no reason, although no medals could be achieved by me. Now, even they cannot be loaded anymore, unless it is a game or movie that is currently "under judgement". Has anybody else had this problem since all those changes took place?

So if a video file is embedded on another site, will the preroll ads still play? Or will they only play on here?
Also, how will we know how much we're making from the video ads? :3

As the fill rates on videos improve, we'll be working to disable pre-roll videos that are built into Flash submissions hosted on Newgrounds, so you don't get double hit. Right now you may encounter situations where you get a video ad from Newgrounds followed by a video ad built into the Flash.... Sorry about that. We really want to make this system work because it will result in better quality ads and higher payouts for artists and developers.

All right, I have a question. Will the ads roll in front of adult movies and games? Last I heard, if you had an adult movie/game, you weren't allowed to use the Newgrounds API to do ads. Are you going to get nasty calls from Activia when they see their ads running in front of Meet 'N Fuck Elf Sluts or whatever?

Nope, not running in front of M/A stuff.

On one hand this is good to avoid such issues, on the other hand it might for some reason give people the misguided view that by not adding such advertisements to mature and adult things we would be "favouring porn" over the rest, as people looking for problems love to take stuff out of context.

Uh, I get a 30 second ad video, the same one every single time, with a lame "SkipIt" button that seems to be from an external company that is not Newgrounds, and after the 30-second video ad is done, all it shows is "Flash player has crashed"!

Are that the preroll ads of newgrounds? Or does my computer have adware or something (since the skipit thing looks so lame and not newgrounds-y)?

This in Chromium on Linux btw, so adware seems unlikely unless something managed to target Chrome in an OS-independent way...

So, impossible to see any NG video, only the ad works, not the actual content, and the ad is 30s! Very different from how NG used to be...

And the skipit thing is this: http://www.skipit.com/how-it-works.html. Like, really, something that scammy, in NG?
