The character is pure 90's nostalgia which in moderation is great and Duke Nukem 3D is the quintessential Duke Nukem game ad a pretty good game in its own right.
never played it but the characters seems pretty cool
I've never actually played Doom or Duke Nukem Forever, but some of the stuff he says is pretty funny.
Duke nukem 3d was an amazing fps back when fps's weren't linear and actually required skill
Duke nukem forever is one of the worst games I have ever played and I don't understand how anyone can defend it.

If you get it cheap enough (like $5) it is worth it simply for the over the top nostalgic dialogue, besides that it's not that good.
To be honest I have no real care for him, as I never played any of the games he was in.
I know pretty much everything about him because it isn't exactly a lot of information and the majority is copy pasted from existing action movies, but with that said I just have no real care for it, I neither felt the hype or enjoyment from playing said games, nor the disappointment fans of it felt with the new one, so its just pretty much meh.

Holy shit.
I really like Duke Nukem, people say he's past his time, but I don't know where people get this, keep the Duke character, give him some offensive lines about recent culture and BAM we've got a game I'll probably buy.
illicit makes a damn good signature.
He's a cliché ridden character consisting of nothing but 80s 90s pop culture references and one-liners. In other words, he's pretty awesome.

Duke Nukem 3D is a pretty awesome game in my opinion. I'm playing through the Megaton edition right now and it's still as great as I remember from playing it in the 90's.

Duke Nukem 3D is a fantastic game, always will be. It reminds me of a time when FPS games were downright awesome. It's hilarious, it's gory, it's offensive, and at times can be quite a challenge playing through the game on "Damn I'm Good" mode.
I can only hope that another great installment to the series will be developed some day, but with Gearbox at the helm, it's rather unlikely. 90% of the games they develop are less than sub par. Their only successful IP has been Borderlands thus far, but who knows? Things might change.
Love Douk 3D, but I didn't even bother with DNF.

I've never actually finished Duke 3D but I think it gets dull fairly quickly, and that vomit-inducing 3D effect when you look up or down certainly doesn't help. It's good but I think Doom is a far better game both today and relative to the time of their release.
I've also played Manhattan Project which again was good but Duke had a very limited selection of lines and the level design got horrible and confusing about half way through.
I guess like Duke, but only in short bursts.

Duke Nukem 3D is awesome, but I did get lost a few times in that. I only played a demo for Duke Nukem Forever and it seemed kinda crappy. I hope Doom 4 is really good.
His character is too politically incorrect and in serious need of a reboot.
I find it funny that he's supposed to be this ultimate tough guy, yet he has a full head of hair and is blonde even.
When I think "tough" I don't think blonde.
Ultimate tough guy should be bald. Like Bald Bull from Punch-Out!!

I thought it was bloody great, Just like the other games id software created.
I also like the fact that they included secrets like the Doom games
not to mention Duke's brilliant 1 line quotes:

He's a member of the Aryan Master Race.
Duke Nukem 3D was a Doom clone with humor. It's not surprising that Duke Nukem Forever was a clone of current shooters. People expected Duke Nukem Forever to be more like Doom, but forgot that the franchise is a humorous skin for whatever is popular at the time. The developers forgot that Call of Duty clones don't sell well.
Duke Nukem was a great character for his time but I think now he is dated. This was proven to me in the last game, it was just terrible and phoned in and the final nail in the coffin IMO.

I think one of the problems is that he was never really a character. He was just a vehicle for one-liners and the game he was in happened to be really solid. It sort of like the uncann valley effect. The closer characters get to looking photorealistic the morethe flaws are off-putting. The more a character interacts with others and the more of a plot they're given the more likely you are to realize that they're flat and uninteresting.
Couple that with the fact that Forever was a dull game in most people's opinions.

Duke nukem forever is one of the worst games I have ever played and I don't understand how anyone can defend it.
I don't want to get into how much of a hipster douche you sound like in the first sentence but I will take the time to defend Forever. Duke Nukem Forever was poorly designed, ugly to look at, and was an overall tedious mess, however there are some good points to the game.
For one, the game still retains some of the humor that 3D had, Duke will occasionally say something that isn't just a reference and is good for a laugh. Another thing is that the environments are interactive which is something that I appreciate, you can lift weights, put rats in a microwave, draw dicks on a marker board, and the air hockey game and the pool game might be legendarily awful but they are still there. And finally, it is still a competent shooter, the weapon models look good and when you shoot at something it dies.
Saying that Forever is one of the worst games is stupid, it's just a mediocre or at worst terrible, hundreds of games deserve the title of worst before Forever.

Barely any good points, honestly Duke having some good lines sort of sometimes is not a good point it's pathetic. The interactive envoirments were useless and a waste of time, why make so many pointless mini games when you could work on the main game? I would probably like them more if they were better made anyway. Most of them suck, for example the mirror that lets you stare at a lifeless duke.
I said one of the worse games I HAVE PLAYED, maybe you should learn how to read.
I sounded like a hipster douche? Please, everything I said in the first sentence is correct. Duke Nukem 3d had great open level design compared to most fps's today that are just a single linear walkway.
Duke is a good man/friend. Game was not well optimized but wasn't as bad as everyone says. It looked like a game from 2003 that ran like shit on ps3 and 360. PC version a little better. We need a new game for duke to reclaim his glory.

I've been playing Megaton all bloody week, can't get enough of those cheesy lines and such
