OK, now let's begin this little debate on what makes the Brony community great, and awful by asking the question: What makes the Bronies so great to have around on this massive place we call the Internet?
This post is coming from someone who was apart of the Brony community, but then quit after the discovery that Pony porn exists. And, of course, Tiarawhy.
But at the same time, though it's a pretty damn interesting community full of talented people...unfortunately, almost all of them have moved on to Rule 34...
So! What makes that community great, and what makes it terrible?

The real reason is that I had better things to do than be apart of a community that takes a piece of media and puts a Pony in front of it.

Why it was good: the creativity. Alot of great musicians, artists, voice actors, etc made their name known thanks to MLP, and alot of their fans now follow their works outside of MLP-related releases. I still follow SimGretina and SilvaHound, for example.
Why it's not as good as the beginning: The adult-content isn't the main thing. Yes, most find it pretty weird/disturbing. I'd say treat it like regular porn and make sure it's not easily accessed.
The main thing is the whole "tolerate and love" bullshit it tried to build itself on.
Yeah, it probably held well at the beginning.
However, as the fandom got bigger, so did the number of over-obsessive fans, zealous haters, and douche-bags.
Eventually, that "tolerate and love" thing went away.
You couldn't even criticize the show/fandom without receiving some type of hate.
Do I have a problem with the show? Nope. Reminds me of cartoons back in the late 90's, actually.
Do I have a problem with the fans? Yes. I'd never consider myself part of that group of people.
Skynet is upon us.

For those who are not involved it has little significance. Probably great for those who like it.

Just wanna say that I deeply believe TheShadling/Shad wastes his talent on the kind of art he makes. Maybe not "wastes", but could have done much greater stuff in a different type of art.
Back to thread, I started hating the brony community when I felt like they were really forcing down our throats that show. Correspondingly, I stopped disliking them when hating bronies started becoming a thing/bandwagon. I never really watched the show, thus my opinion depended on what I heard and the impression they gave me as a community.

Huh, thinking about it it's been quite a while since the last one of these threads. I think the bandwagon hatred must be passing, I guess the Sonic fandom hate bandwagon is truly one to never be matched. Which on one side is great as it is annoying, but on the other side I feel sorry for them still having to burden it for so long.

If you're an adult unironically obsessed with stylized talking horses, chances are you're not the most stable person.
This is also true of 100% of every person I've ever known who was REALLY INTO ANIME. They were all fat losers with social problems.
My guess is that the brony community is much the same because if a cartoon takes that much emotional space in your life, you have issues that need to be resolved. They make okay online communities but I wouldn't want to hang out with them as an adult...yaaaah.

all fandoms will make porn of things if it get big enough.
It's nice to have bronies around because it shows that we are not all turning into people that thirst for fear in the media for 1
idk.. Its hard for me to look at it because i consider myself a brony so my judgements and views are skewed

When you say "REALLY INTO ANIME", do you mean people who genuinely enjoy anime, or people who make it everything they talk about?

Nothing wrong with that but when you start referring to yourself as a "brony" chances are there is something wrong with yourself.
When you say "REALLY INTO ANIME", do you mean people who genuinely enjoy anime, or people who make it everything they talk about?
I mean those people who want to travel to Japan, go to conventions, own dozens / hundreds of DVDs/ manga, want to learn japanese and pepper normal conversation with Japanese terms and references to things from Japan/ anime no one but themselves could possibly know about.
This behaviour is not limited to Anime fans, it's just the stereotypical fan-nerd behaviour wherein someone centres their lives around a specific franchise or form of art, typically reserved for children or teenagers. ( star wars, D&D, MTG, star trek, harry potter, anime etc. ).

I really love anime, and I do want to live in Japan for a few years, but for my love of Japanese culture rather than anime. And my love for Japanese culture doesn't come from anime.
I don't do any of that other stuff you said though.

It basically is for kids and teens, it's just that it came out almost 40 years ago so obviously the people who bought all that C3PO cereal and wore shitty Boba Fett costumes for halloween are all grown up and, sadly, have thousands of dollars to sink into elaborate star wars idiot products.
Like this thing I bought. Which fucking rules.

The central themes, at least for the original trilogy are common themes in Western story telling and thus are applicable to any age group. There are artsy films designed for people in their mid thirties that use the same themes as Star Wars. That's what I mean when I say Star Wars isn't just for teens, because anyone can easily pick it up and get into the story.
I doubt that it was even filmed with a demographic in mind.
And yes, that lego star destroyer kicks ass.

I'd dispute that Star Wars is primarily Western - I'm no film buff but it seemed to draw on Eastern themes, directly (the pantheistic universe shit) and indirectly (largely based on Wild West films, which are based on Samurai flicks).
But yeah - you can definitely watch Star Wars at any age. Like any fantasy franchise though, it's best to watch it when you're really young and you can get properly obsessed with the universe.

Most bronies AND pegasisters are known for their amazing job on animating mlp videos and making amazing mlp art. The other part of bronies and pegasisters are downright perverted and sensitive. Like, if you were to make an anti-brony comment on an mlp video, they that kind of shit seriously.

I thought about posting a thread relating to the Brony fandom by beating a dead Pony, and also, I have no idea what you mean by "so where's the other threads about literally everything you can look up online then?" the whole sentence made absolutely no sense because I simply wanted to start a discussion relating to the Brony fandom.

I think as long as you are deeply ashamed of yourself and do it closeted behind a pseudoname online it is ok. The moment you reveal that information anyway IRL you are a charity case of awkwardness

Probably the fact that it enables them all to communicate. This probably wouldn't have happened 20 years ago, people coming out about a bran initially patent for little girls. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is enjoyable for people of any age, people shouldn't be so prejudice and should instead judge things by how they like it. Bronies are great because they stereotypically believe in acceptance, love and friendship.
If you're not hurting anyone, it's okay to like something.
This post is coming from someone who was apart of the Brony community, but then quit after the discovery that Pony porn exists. And, of course, Tiarawhy.
If it exists, there is porn of it.
I have a question for you; if you were open minded enough to like a show for girls, because it was made so well; why stop liking it, just because there's porn?
But at the same time, though it's a pretty damn interesting community full of talented people...unfortunately, almost all of them have moved on to Rule 34...
Part of what MLP: FiM invokes is "acceptance", so why can't you carry on liking what you like about MLP and accept that some people made porn of it? There's probably porn for everything you like. It's odd that you're both a Brony, but uptight about what other people like to the point that you stop watching.
So! What makes that community great, and what makes it terrible?

You can't really argue its convenience though as an online word, Much easier to say "brony" than "some fan of my little pony"
but using it as a word in reality to refer to yourself to people have never heard of bronies, it is pretty weird.

Exactly, its not so much what their into, its how they are and act about it on the net or in reality.
