So what if a few misinformed people call something instrumental, it really doesn't matter.

What's something you really love? Lets say you love to play tennis. If you were watching a match, and someone came up to you and started spouting misinformation about tennis, then telling you you're wrong when you try to correct them, wouldn't you be the least bit insulted?

Except it's not a matter of opinions, it's a matter of etymological fact. Songwriters write a poem, and them music to go around it, it's centered on the lyrics. If you like that, it's fine, but music without lyrics AREN'T FUCKING INSTRUMENTALS. Musical composers put the integrity of the music at the utmost importance, and that's why (assuming they're good at what they do) the music that comes forth from them is of higher quality. When you base a song around lyrics, you end up with a story that has a nice little bit of music to help you tell the story. When you base a song around the music, you end up with pure music that moves other people in different ways, and can be far more moving than any lyrical song can hope to be.

I'm not saying my opinion is better than anyone else', I'm not saying that the music I like is better, I'm saying that music without lyrics is not called an instrumental. Musically educate yourselves before you try talking about music itself.

I've been refuting it throughout the thread, I've done it about 3 or 4 times already. He's a pothead, I tend to not really consider what he says to be of very high priority.
