Plutonium for me.

With no recollection of the past, whatsoever, Dys was found, in hir current state, in a dysporium mining facility 15 years ago. Ze was found with a large chunk of pure dysporium in hir chest cavity, which is not only impossible to find naturally, but is impossible to remove. With it, ze can absorb abundant elements around hir in order to alter hir form and attack attributes, with oxygen, silicone, and aluminum being the easiest to absorb, due to their abundance. Dys has adopted a fighting style that is loosely based around Wing Chun, as ze was taken care of by an instructor of the martial art and would observe the training sessions and teach hirself what ze saw.

As Dys has no pre-existing notions of gender roles and normality, ze does not identify as male nor female, thus ze prefers to be referred to with gender nuetral pronouns.

An hour later, here's my design:

Pluto, the radioactive fighter.

Born in Soviet-era Russia, at the height of the cold war, not as a newborn child, but as a scientific experiment. In his past life, he was a circus performer up until the cold war began to build momentum. There was mass conscription and his circus troupe was performing near the Kremlin when this happened, so naturally he was conscripted right away.

Notably massive in size beforehand, he was instantly put through a new experimental program to inject humans with plutonium, in hopes to build a super-soldier which could also feed, not die, from radiation poisoning. Out of all the unwilling participants, he was the only to survive. He grew another foot, making him a towering 7 feet 5 inches.

He was able to live off of plutonium, the only draw-back is people who come in contact with him contract radiation sickness. He also was not as powerful as they were hoping. This made him to be considered a "failed" experiment. So, they made him a large enclose cage and decided it would be best to entertain the masses with him and host weekly bear-fighting matches. For the past decade, all Pluto has known is his distinct taste for plutonium and how to best destroy a bear with his fists and/or blades.

Ooooo I like the backstory and appreciate you actually using gender neutral terms. The pose along with the facial expression gives me a vibe of determination!!

Excelling at excellence is what the people of the planet Ulloa believe in.
Their champion, Platinum, has bested the Intergalactic Tournament of Elite Duelists for four times in a row.
The wealth she receives dwarfs that of merchant trade worlds and the amount of praise for her would make a god jealous.

Platinum believed that she was in a league of her own. That is until she caught word of skillful fighters being unable to attend the ITED due to their lack of funds. This caused her to refuse her fifth invitation to the tournament as it truly did not hold the most powerful, only the most prosperous.

She now travels to distant planets offering a share of her riches in exchange for potential opponents.

Ever since Katherine can remember she had lovely golden hair, passed down from her family's genes.
she learnt the ancient fighting stance where warriors would use their own hair as a weapon, normally with sharp trinkets attached, how ever Katherine found her hair to be soft when stroke but sharp when struck.
now at the age of 24, Katherine gold is one of the richest fighters of our time, she is prized for her glowing beauty and elegant moves.

So heres my concept.
http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/2b061026d9fa7f25bfd8f1bb7eee2b58

✓ Metallic Crystal/Stone Lady
X Weird sex appeal
X Flashy

Well I got one of the qualities i wanted with this design anyways. Needs some work, could use some modifications, but whatever maybe in the third part of this weeklie. I need to sit down and take some time to figure out how to appropriately draw large breasts and slim down some of her more rocky components.

Garda: Antimony Crystal Homunculus

The result of an attempt in transmuting artificial human life with alchemy. The formula was incorrect however, and resulted in the creation of a non carbon based life form. Garda's smooth metallic body constantly grows stibnite crystals.
These hard but brittle crystals are toxic and if flesh is pierced or scratched with them, causes a slow debilitating poison to take hold in the body.

If damaged the crystals that protect Garda's body will fall off, making her defenses lower but her speed much higher, as well as making her outfit more scanty, you know, for the Japanese people. Her attacks also deal poison damage over time.

Yeah.

Just FYI those still working on your characters, if there's even any of them left, keep on going on. Just post them, however ...

Arena

So presumably you've thought about your character, you've designed them, you've made a tiny little origin story for them, now its time to widen the scope a little bit and follow through on your idea some more. Just about every fighting game has a character and then a fighting arena for that character. Like a character's lair, or some place related to that character in some way. This is why I had you come up with a silly origin for them so you would start thinking about the world that surrounds the character you made. This is probably going to be very intimidating and challenging for many of you, as you've all likely neglected drawing environments and backgrounds. I know I have.

Do the best you can, plan it out before you draw it. Use basic perspective, references, look up tutorials if you have to, color and shade it.

Do the best you can to make an interesting background that represents or reinforces your character while keeping the fighting game background 'feel'.
Good luck. I know I'll need it.

I'll take Hydrogen, because I'm doing both weeks challenges.

You can't stop me. I'm going to make a fighter and background with such creamy fucking goodness you'll ejaculate like a fire truck just looking at it. Suck my dick.

Ugh, I didn't had that much time to create something this week.
And I was gonna make a las vegas like background with neon signs, a limo, and spectators.
I'm kinda ripping off Balrog's stage in Street Fighter, but that's really what fits Neon Badger. >.>

Clean version here. It was an excellent practice for BGs by the way. Would do it again.

Week 13

Game Cover

Its time to make a sweet cover for the fighting game featuring (all) or at least most of the fighting game's finished characters. We've got a good variety to work with here, but since everyone drew them all in vastly differing styles for the most part its time to bring them all together. You may take artistic liberties with the designs to improve and tweak them to make them feel like they belong together stylistically, but try to keep the overall look and theme the same as a token of respect for the artist who originally designed it! Focus on how you want to fit all the characters into the composition without them all standing around staring. Try to make it look exciting and like a fun game! Remember their powers and themes!

Bonus points for fitting all the characters in, and doing some sort of text logo art for the game (which can be called anything you want it to) and fitting it in there in a way that looks swell. Its a good thing you got that graffiti practice in...right?

So hopefully you've already made your character and are just about finishing your background. if you havnt finished them, well you have until the end of this weeklie to get it done, but then we are entirely finished with this theme, so don't dawdle and good luck. Heres some decent examples for inspiration.

Concept 1
Concept 2
Character Illustration (pictured below)
Background Illustration

The element that the concept was based off is Hydrogen. Here is a short background based off this character.

"Tom was a party dude. A real party dude. So when he sneaked onto a NASA spacecraft and blew off into outer space, he threw an even bigger party. Unluckily, the moon demons were envious of his totally radical party and possessed him, the three man crew of the shuttle, and the shuttle itself.

Tom woke up with 12 types of amnesia and no body. But the amnesias cancelled each other out and he ended up with so much memory that he foresaw a future awesome fighting competition and blew off from the moon to go partake in it. The moon demons decided to come along.

I will now complete the latest challenge.

I finally got around to participating in another one of these challenges. This one was fun.

Isis: Bismuth Crystal Android

The B-15 was the first successful attempt to create bismuth-based artificial intelligence. It was intended to be prototype fighter, with the belief that abstract thought would lead to more interesting fights. However, on gaining sentience and the free will that came with it, the B-15 decided immediately that not being a slave was awesome and being a slave was not awesome. So it broke free to leave its collective human owners/parents in its dust.

It eventually became a moderately successful pop star under the stage name 'Isis', until the auto-tune craze finally died out.

Isis's bismuth core acts as a superconductor, giving Isis the ability to repel matter and float for short distances.

Enter's a new challenger.....
-Tantalum-
--------------------------------------------

The name tantalum was derived from the name of

the mythological Tantalus, the father of Niobe in

Greek mythology. In the story, he had been

punished after death by being condemned to stand

knee-deep in water with perfect fruit growing

above his head, both of which eternally

tantalized him. (If he bent to drink the water,

it drained below the level he could reach, and if

he reached for the fruit, the branches moved out

of his grasp.)

wiki snippet^^

tantalize - torment or tease (someone) with the

sight or promise of something that is

unobtainable.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tantalum -
Her Beauty tantalizes regular mortal men.
They want her but they can't have her.

She has illusion magic abilities.
She favors close combat.
Her body is a great conductor of electricity and fire. Those elements have no affect or her.

She carries a dagger wand.
Her weapon can be flipped with the orb side up...this allows her to concentrate her illusion magic into a projectile shot.
Because the dagger wand needs illusion magic it is constantly drains small amounts of illusion magic from her body. Keeping her from reaching her full power.

When her dagger is separated from her, her true hideous spirit being is unleashed. She is at full power. She no longer uses regular combat. She can scratch, teleport and gains a WHISPER spell.
She WHISPERS into the ear of her victim. A powerful illusion falls upon her victim. The victim sees something they truly desire, just barely out of reach. Only the strong willed can break her WHISPER spell. The weak men are forever tantalized.
(The illusion spells are always temporary on women.)
Her weaknesses are cold and mirrors.
(She is afraid of facing her true hideous form.)
She isn't good or evil. She has a neutral alignment.
She only fights when provoked.
