I want to make a movie and I have a few questions about the most appropriate size for newgrounds.
I have read i the faq that a 16x9 aspect ratio is the best to use.
The movie I just started to make on flash is 1280x720. Is this too big, or does it size down to fit the page's layout? Should I make it smaller?
I tried to find the answer but could not. Thanks

As a flash, it'll probably break the layout, but it'll still be centered so for users with a large resolution it'll be OK. For those with screen resolutions below 1280x720px however it'd be hard to view in its entirety (and 1024x768 is still surprisingly common). Of course they can zoom out, and I suppose mobile devices automatically scale content like this, but it'd definitely be more usable with a smaller canvas size.
The 16x9 aspect ratio is recommended because it's a modern standard, but you're free to use any resolution you like. Don't let it restrict you too much, as long as it's not too big or has a huge difference in width or height anything goes.

Use swivel to convert your movie into a MP4. Everyone could usually see it.

Okay, thanks for the info. I guess I'll make it smaller so it doesn't break the layout

Yeah, I was thinking about doing that too... Well, it's not too big of an issue to make it smaller, since I made sure not to really start animating until I was sure of the size.
thanks for the suggestions

Glad to help! I should also mention btw: upon uploading, you can specify your submission dimensions, so if it's too big it's possible to just scale it down manually before its embedded... though of course that might make things look messed up, make text harder to read etc.
