what went wrong in gremlins 2

there is no denying the first gremlins movie was actually very good possably a christmas classic but the sequall sucks... much more then most sequals. it did start okay but it sort of fiziled out in the middle i liked the whole mutant gremlins thing but personally i think they tried to hard and focassed to much on the comedy which was only a very small part of the origanal. i do think they could have also done something more with the super smart spider and tranny gremlins like made the the smart one more maniacal and less charming/funny made the spder more ... important to the plot and used the tranny one to make a human after all it was having sex with that ceo off screen the whole movie

Fun fact: The actor that played the CEO at the end of the movie went on to play the Doctor on Star Trek: Voyager.

way too much bland comedy, which unfortunately was the only route they could go with a gremlins sequel. i pray that the hinted 3rd movie never comes to fruition, but with the amount of sequels hollywood has scheduled for the next couple years anything is possible.

maybe not an imediate sequal mabe a revamp first with a better writen gremlins 2 with a third involving the half gremlin half human hybred of the tranny gremlin and the ceo. mind you if they announce that every nurd on the internet will suddenly make gremlin porn dont pretend they wont just type in pony into an image search and you'll see what i mean

I love Gremlins 2.

It was one of those movies I watched over and over again as a kid.

I like how weird a movie it is for a big studio film.

The story is that WB wanted to make a Gremlins sequel for years.

Joe Dante didn't want to do it. One reason being that the studio seemed to want him to just make the same movie again.

After WB failed to come up with any good ideas on their own, they wen to Dante again. He agreed to direct the sequel only if he was given full creative control.

The movie he made is sort of a commentary on the stupidity of sequels in general. It also lampoons the first movie a lot.

It's also a satire of a lot of the stuff going on at the time. Cable Television was on the rise. Frozen Yogurt was the hip food with yuppies.

I think it's a real interesting flick.

It also has some of the best animatronic and puppetry work I've EVER SEEN in a movie.

i see he intentionally made the second one in a way that would mean no part 3

and yes i will admit the animatronic puppetry was top notch my problums were small parts of story like that guy interviewing the gremlins and them doing that joke in the middle were the gremlins stop there own movie to try and watch snow white only to be threatened by that wrestler guy hulk hogan i think and the smart gremlin being so camp everything else was good though also gizmo turning into ranbo was kinda wierd

I dunno what ur on about m8, Gremlins 2 is awesome and one of the best sequels of all times.

It reminds me of another often misunderstood sequel, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.

TCM was, and still is, regarded as one of the scariest films ever made, yet Tobe Hooper was disappointed that nobody seemed to notice the humor and black comedy in the film.

When a sequel finally went into production, Hooper chose to play up the comedy much more this time.

It became a sort of satire on a lot of things happening in the 80's. The film mocked yuppies, and the string of teen films coming out at the time.

The movie's poster was even a parody of the Breakfast Club poster.
